If you have a car and love chocolate, I can not say enough good things about family chocolate night at Farris and Fosters candy shop/chocolate factory. It's located in Baldwin Park, just east of Downtown Orlando. Every Monday night (when I called it was booked up for the next 3 weeks) for $25 per family, you go in and make what ever creations you want and get to take them with you. The $25 included the first pound of made chocolate and $12 each additional pound. Check out www.farrisandfosters.com for more info. We had a blast!!

Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!! I love choc. to say the least. I am going to surprise my guys in Oct. It sounds like the bomb.

Does sound like fun! Any restaurant recommendations for dinner in the general area...... before all the chocolate consumption?

The store is located in Baldwin Park which is similar to Celebration. On the same street as the store, we saw a Subway and a pizza/Italian place across the street. On the main road leading into Baldwin Park (Hwy 50/Colonial Dr), there is everything from McD's/BK/Arbys to Olive Garden/TGIFridays/Bennigans. We ate at the Fridays. As if its not a given, the chocolate consumption was amazing!!! :)

Sounds like fun! More info please! How long did you spend there and what time did it begin? When you make a reservation, do you reserve a specific time slot? What sorts of things do you make to make up your chocolate pound? Can you add mix-ins or is it just chocolate in various molds? We are arriving on a Monday and we may decide to do this since we aren't planning any parks that day. :woohoo:

**I just went back to the website and saw the Fun Night video. So I have a better idea of what it's like, but I would still like to know how long you spend there and what time it begins. TIA

Wow!!! :yay:

I've never heard of anything like that! Saved it for future use. Thanks for posting.

It was from 7-9pm. The night we went, there was only one other family as a family of 6 got lost and didn't show. More samples for us!! We made butterflies in a mold, covered pretzels, covered oreos, covered nutter butters, covered caramels, candy cups with mixins and truffle shells filled with red raspberry and strawberry cream centers. The $25 charge includes the first pound of chocolate. Including that, we spent $34 and took home 2 containers of our made candy. They will tell you ahead of time about how much of what makes a pound.

This definetly sounds like something interesting and out of the ordinary to do. Thanks for the head's up. :)

I've spoken to Foster and I think we are going to do this on our trip (in 1-1/2 weeks.)

Do they provide containers? How do you resist eating stuff while you are making it?

How long did it take?

How far of a drive is it from the LBV/Kissimmee area?

Thanks!

Yes, they provide containers. There was so much going on that we didn't have time to eat anything we made right then and there. They did have a tray of samples for everyone to try. There was chocolate covered potato chips, mini oreos, sugar wafers, gummi worms, rice krispie treats, etc. The best was there was alittle cloud of white chocolate, they put a raspberry in it and drizzled milk chocolate on top. Heaven! It started at 7pm, we were there until 8:45pm. From LBV, its about 45 minutes but allow atleast an hour with traffic on I4.

Suzanne,
I can't thank you enough for your tip on this activity. We just got back Saturday from our trip. We went and did the Family Chocolate night (but actually did it in the afternoon on a Wednesday) last week. It was SO much fun. The kids loved it! I loved it too!

It was a wonderful, unusual and fun event. We ended up doing about 1 lb per person so it was a bit more expensive (about $50 for three) but well worth it.

I was amazed at all the things you can cover with chocolate that were provided (rice krispy treats, gummy worms, animal crackers, caramel, strawberries, rasberries, grahmn crackers...etc.) I could go on and

If the Monday night activity is sold out ask if you can do another day. This is what I did and the folks there were extremely accomodating!

I am so excited about this more and more. I just have one question? Is it good choclate? Yes I am a choclate snob. I would rather have none then cheap choclate. Also is it milk or dark? I only eat milk for me. We would still try it because the experience for my kids will be great. I just will be disappointed. Oh well.

Evans family,

SO glad you had a good time. We had a blast. Thats great that you were able to go on a Wednesday afternoon. We were thinking of having DD's birthday party there this year but its far for parents to drive although I think it would be so worth it. We are having a chocolate fountain at her party closer to home instead!

If anyone else out there is thinking of going while on vacation, I say, GO AND HAVE FUN!!!!

They have three machines churning hot melted chocolate...milk, white and dark chocolate. It is very good quality. They also have a conveyer belt with a chocolate waterfall...last week it was loaded with dark chocolate.

The conveyer was milk chocolate the night we went. YUM!

I gotta jump in here with my enthusiastic endorsement too!

I read about Family Chocolate Night on these boards right before our trip two weeks ago. The whole family loved the idea, so we decided to check it out. (Especially since my kids would eat candy for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if I let them.)

I called for reservations and they already had five families scheduled for that Monday. They allowed us to register anyway though, since unfortuately some of the families haven't been showing up.

We got a little lost on the way 'cause we just had written directions and no map. (Go east on 50 if you are coming from the WDW area) We were the third family.

Foster was a riot! He was putting different hats on and my kids were cracking up at him. Everyone gets their own little paper hat and plastic apron. You get to make things with milk, dark, and white chocolate - whatever you want. (And yes, it is GOOD chocolate!) There were also some bags of colored chocolate for decorating - the kids liked squeezing "toppings" onto chocolate pizza slices. One son made a dog mold that weighed about pound on its own (groan!), but what the heck -it's vacation!

Thanks so much for posting this info! We had a GREAT time! Anyone who is thinking about going.... Do it! Have Fun! Go Crazy!
