Just want to say that I had a 2 bedroom booked for bWV this August and wanted to downgrade to a 1 bedroom.. It was a SV and when I called, they said that I had to cancel and rebook. The CM checked with someone and said that I couldn't just keep part of it. I ended up having to cancel the whole thing, book a 1 bedroom garden view and wait list for the SV. I ended up having the wait list fill quickly, but I was not allowed to keep part of it.
IMO, I would follow up with an email to MS, so you have verification in writing since I was not allowed to do what you were told today was possible.
Good luck!
Was it a lock off?
That is different than historical so don't be surprised if you get a different answer if you call back.
I called again and again my information was confirmed by both a CM and a supervisor, and there are now notes attached to my account detailing that I was told you CAN split a lock off.
You can split a lock off as long as you do it for the entirety of the trip. If you have 7 nights booked, you have to cancel either the studio or the 1br for the entire 7 nights.
These cancelations are 100% allowed, but cannot be handled by the CM on the phone; a supervisor has to affect the change. But it can be done while on the phone, another person just has to get involved. As a matter of fact, the CM asked me if I'd like her to get a supervisor on the phone right away to make the change.
Whichever portion of the room is kept, the CM can use banked/borrowed points first. So for example, in my case I used 278 points. 67 are banked/borrowed, the remainder are current UY. If/when I cancel the 1br, the studio will be held with the banked/borrowed points. This is a relief.
Hope this info helps others. I think it makes perfect sense, and we'll be glad when we can open up a studio or 1br for a week for another member to enjoy!
