Family banned! (HALLELUJAH! Update post 39)

Hi!

Earlier today, my husband was in the Street Party Music Room to collect his credit and move on. Just as he was starting to leave a 30 day ban message came up for the room. I don't know what the other characters were saying but I know he didn't have anything to do with it!!

Anyway, now no one can log in from our house!!! Why do they ban entire rooms and why the IP???? Technology is sophisticated enough to pinpoint the actual offenders by character name. They really need to start punishing those who actually break the rules without punishing everyone within a 3 mile radius!

I have written to the black hole!

Any other suggestions?

They usually ban the IP because they don't know if you have a husband that plays or if every character on that IP is a mule. There is no way for them to know if there are others playing or if every character is run by the same person. I have never heard of them banning an entire room though.

Yes, this idea of banning the whole room is alarming...


I'd say the only thing you can do now is keep writing into the Black Hole.


If that is unsuccessful, do you need me to go out and grab Weekend Pins and new items for you until your ban dies?

Go to Contact us, type in his info and choose the option "I think I'm banned" It will tell you the reason and im not sure what else you can do. I was banned 30 days because I gave my info out (stupid me) and they got on my character, took my stuff, and banned me so they would not get caught.

I don't think the room was banned. Write to vmk asking why your pc was banned. It may take a few days, but you should get a response. Most likely someone from your IP said something on vmk that resulted in a ban. It could have happened a day or two before your husband logged on.

First off which you have already done write to the black hole to find out why your IP was banned.

Next determine which character did in deed receive the ban. If not legimate FIGHT and I do mean FIGHT to have your ban removed.

Thirdly if your IP is not static the other characters can log back into VMK as soon as your IP addy changes or you change it which ever comes first.

The reason you were all ban ( your family) is because VMK knows that people go on other accounts ( if they have others) and so they ban the computer until your time is up.
And if you don't know why you got ban go to "contact us" and just write them asking them why? and what happened?

i was banned for 10 yrs on my other computer and changed my ip address many times but vmk still knew that i had been banned even tho i changed my character

Thanks for your advice, so far!!

I asked my husband what happened and he said he was standing in line in the Music Room and a girl asked walked up to him and said "Do you want to make out?" He said, "no!" She said "- takes off clothes -".

He immediately clicked the map to leave, by the time he got into Central Plaza, the ban message was up. So, I misunderstood.....I don't know if the whole room got it. But still, he is not the one who said anything and he left the situation, right away, to avoid this very problem.

We both wrote to the black hole. I f we don't hear from them in a couple of days, I guess we'll write again. I'm just bummed....VMK is my little mental escape....and I'm probably going to miss some fun new stuff, games and quests.

Unfortunately, sometimes VMK bans the wrong party. (I don't understand why it should be so hard for them to be accurate, but oh, well!) If you ask them to please go back and check their game logs, they will see that they nailed the wrong player.

How do you change it?

simple way for DSL or Cable is to unplug your router or modem and let it sit for about 15-30 minutes.


For dial up I beleive you have to turn off your computer and unplugg it overnight.

do a google search for more detailed info.

Good luck, I remember being banned 10 years for no reason, next day I could get in but they said I was banned fairly? Weird!

i was so close to being banned because i was in a "taken is wrong" room. we started saying that taken can be very, very bad because a girl died because of giving out personal info on another site. we got a report from staff saying "mentioning myspace or any other site, you will be banned" (something like that). i didn't go on for a couple days after that. i never mmentioned myspace, but other kids started saying it. i haven't been to any popular rooms since.

UPDATE: Still no word from the black hole. I will write them again today. We uplugged our modem for about 16 hours, while were out of the house, but it didn't work. Apparently our IP is static.

Today, DH was going to see what happens if he tries to log-in from a different location on his laptop.

Meanwhile, we're all missing all the fun!

If you have not heard back by now, you may want to figure out if VMK is even getting your messages. Certain ISPs, more than just AOL, do not recognize e-mail from VMK. For instance, I am on comcast and although it is not on the home page (I've worked with QA_caffdawg directly to address it, comcast is still not on there), comcast does not recognize VMK. So, it really is a black hole, an electronic one.

What I had to do was get a separate @yahoo account just for VMK. They also don't have problems with @hotmail, or @gmail.

To test my theory, try sending in a community leader application from the home page. If you don't receive an almost immediate response saying, "Thanks but we are not accepting applications, blah blah blah" they are not getting your e-mails. If that is the case, then sign up for one of the ones I listed above and use that to communicate with them.

The fact that your Disney account is not associated with the free account DOES NOT MATTER. This is directly from QA_caffdawg.

P.S., if your IP address is static, I believe you can change it manually. I'm sure someone here can tell you how, but if not, I'll do my best to walk you through it when I get home. I can't do anything on these Navy computers!

Just before Christmas I got banned. I was in a room helping a girl with the gingerbread tree quest and got ban for 1 month, ip and all.
I wrote vmk and sent it as a parent..lol it gets answered alot faster being sent as a parent.
I basically explain what was going on at the time of the ban and asked them to review the chat logs.
The next day I received a message saying they lifted the ban, but for some odd reason I had to change my title.

Anyways.... if he did do wrong, they will see that and unban you.
