Falmouth?

We chose to spend the entire day with our driver. He picked us up just right after we were cleared in Jamaica (around 8am) and dropped us off back inside the port about 1 hour before all aboard (around 3pm). The hour drive each way was fantastic. Lindsay (owner of SNL Jamaican Tours) gave us so much information about the history of the island. He stopped on the side of the road and picked us fruits, picked us different leaves that they use for medicines and just overall information about the island. I learned more in those driving hours with him then an intire year of history class.
At Blue Hole, are you given 1 guide per person or 1 guide for your family?

We also did a private tour to Blue Hole, with Liberty Tours, had our own private driver who was terrific. We were picked up at the port, drove a little where we rode horses, and delivered school supplies to the kids in the area (while on horseback!) Then we went to a small store where we were able to buy some trinkets and postcards, then on to Blue Hole.. which was AMAZING!!! We had one guide for our family of 4. It was perfect. Definitely plan to tip in cash (we used US$) Our guide at Blue Hole was a local, and treated us superbly- took tons of pictures for us and even took us back to do some of it again. On the way back to the port, we stopped at a small convenience mart (7-11 type) and we were bought some local candy and sodas.. then hit the post office to mail our postcards, and finally back to the port. We had about 90 minutes before all aboard, so it was perfect. Totally worth the drive- it was very scenic and our driver played the role of tour guide to a T. We would do it again if we ever go back.. for what it's worth, my kids were 11 and 13 at the time-

This is a wonderful idea. Id much rather buy local candy to take home than other types of souvenirs. was there a candy in particular we should keep an eye out for?

One candy that has history is Busta, or Stagga Back. It's a ginger candy, so you could even make the excuse that you're buying it to help with seasickness. :D
