We have been to the Falmouth port the past 3 years and have visited a Bijoux Jewelers. I am wondering if anyone has been to Falmouth recently and can tell me if they are still there? Or if you are going there soon can you please tell me if you see them? They are on the side with Diamonds International.

Can anyone who just got off the Fantasy today tell me if you notice Bijoux Jewelers? Thanks

We got in contact with Bijoux jeweler. His location in Falmouth is still there and it is now an Authorized Rolex distributor too!

So I don't know anything about Bijoux Jewellers, but I was in Tortola and, with the blessing and advice from the "Shopping Assistant" from the Fantasy, I bought a ring at Diamonds International. What I paid in U.S. dollars for this "Tax free/duty free" ring was what it was worth in Canadian dollars. ie: it was appraised at 25% less than I paid. On top of that, I did have to pay duty to import it into Canada. I will also say that our Shopping Assistant advised against claiming it, which I think is bad for business on her part. I don't know her, so why is she encouraging me to break the law? Oh yeah, to seal the sale.

So, my advice is to beware of shopping in any of those places at the port for high-end anything unless you know what you're talking about. So if you're looking for something specific and you know the prices and you know your product, go for it. If not, maybe shop at home.

@FigmentSpark and others, please be aware that the port shopping experts on board are paid by the shops they promote. This happens on all the major cruise lines, not just Disney.

Very true! Also, thanks for the correct terminology... they are 'shopping experts'. And, according to ours, they just love to help others and get no kickback from the stores.... yeah, right! I'm sure there's a tidy commission.

@FigmentSpark Sorry you had such a bad experience. I had heard about the appraisals and "speeches" before on other boards. DH and I always report what we buy. We have have found Customs to be very fair and even with paying the duties we still save plenty of money.

Thankfully, I had a good experience on a previous cruise buying a gold necklace from a cruise recommended shop. I had no idea what a good price was, but I bought it because I really liked it and it ended up appraising for more than I paid.

We found Bijoux because they are an "Authorized" dealer with the watch brands we shop for; and you are correct, you should you know your product to know if you are getting a deal. We were treated well at Bijoux and have shopped there several times.

I don't know, but if you go with her, she tells you who to talk to so you can 'get the best deal'. I only ever did it the one time. It was a high pressure sale, but in a way that you didn't notice right away. They didn't tell me the prices until I had narrowed down what I liked (from what they'd showed me). I did get a beautiful ring (as I keep mentioning), just not one worth what I paid for it.
