Well here is the first post for September. I know, I know it should have been yesterday but we have a little Labor Day celebration in town known as "frog days" and we spent the day in the park with the kids watching the frog races. Yes you read that right. Also, my DH took my dad's 31 Model A in the parade and the kidlets got to ride in the rumble seat of a 31 Packard. How much fun is that!!!

Kim: Great job on the Human Race. Yay for a PR!!

Joanne: Great job for you too in the Human Race!!

Susie and Steve: DL half, so jealous. Maybe someday. :thumbsup2 to both of you!

Everyone else: Way to get out there and get the miles in. Spreadsheet update is on the way.

As for me, I did the Human Race also on Sunday but I extended my run to 9.5 miles. My Nike sensor was not working so I rushed out to get another and guess what, it didn't work either. Must be something in my nano. Such is life. I have emailed Nike+ and am waiting for a response on how to get credit for my miles. Also, about mile 7, I got horrific pain in my stomach and actually had to walk the last mile and a half. That will teach me not to eat before a run!! I spent most of the day yesterday trying to recover with my calories and hydration. I ran to the aforementioned parade with my SIL so 4 miles in 37 minutes :scared1: :scared1: I know. She seems to motivate me and take me out of my comfort zone which is good for me. I was going to do 5 but 4 fast seemed to make more sense. My blisters are getting worse and I popped and soaked them last night. Made a hole, filled them with Neosporin and they are not quite as painful this morning. Five on tap for today. Beautiful weather here in the great State, 80s all week!!!!!

While no one is looking the sneaky panda scampers in and hugs every pretty princess in the Super Goof club.

Then scurries off to the deep woods of WISH.

Happy September y'all.

Visiting Panda:hippie:

Thanks, Panda Hugs are always nice!

I am continuing my pre-1/2 marathon base buildup to try and get back my "land legs", so to speak. Did 3.1 miles today in 31 minutes with only one little walk break incorporated. Takes time to get everything back to knowing how to run. Need to remember to work on my exercises for calves & shins, but feeling pretty good.

Yesterday was another long walk for the dog and me--40 minutes 2.25 miles. However it didn't seem to tire him out too much, and as Lilo would say about Stitch--his badness quotient was very high!"

Have a great day, everyone.

Maura

Maura, I'm also in the build-up to officially training for the half. I did 3 miles in 36:15 yesterday and have 2 on tap for tonight. I always gave myself at least one rest day between runs prior to this, so I expect this week (only one rest day all week) will be quite challenging!

Lisa, great job on your fast run to see the frogs! Next time you update the team list, you can put that I live in Alabama.

Super quickie update for the Goofs that I love....

August:
Miles-1600.58 2nd place for the month
Hours-294.68 1st place for the month...so far...

Overall: We are in 4th place overall in the standings so far with 8000+ miles recorded. Some teams are over 10,000 miles already!!!! :scared1:

See, we may be Goofy but we can hold our own! Keep up the great work Super Goofs. As we go into fall remember, we can overcome any obstacle before us if we just set our minds to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lisa: I am posting here for the rest of August.

Thursday 8/28
time: 30 min
miles: 3

Sunday 8/31
time: 3:00
miles: 13.1 (count as 26.2 for the VA race)

Beth

Updated update (after Beth's post)...

August:
Miles 1629.78
Hours 298.18

No place change for August, still 2nd/1st

Overall:
Miles: 8987.40 - Jumped to 3rd place with Beth's additional miles
Hours: 1824.57 - Remaining in 4th place but not by much!!!

You should all be so proud of the work that you have done. Did you ever imagine that we would have worked out that many hours or run/walk that many miles?? It is amazing to me to see it in print.

BETH: WTG on VA Beach....so who was the headline band this year, details girl, details!!!

I am so frustrated with my nike plus. I went out and bought a new unit and it keeps stopping during a run. It's not sending data to Nike either. This gets me so mad- the silly things are not cheap- is it too much to ask that something work right?

Vent over-

Horsie lost a show so no ride today.
3 miles in 25 minutes (see where a little anger gets you!)
1 hour spin class

8000 miles!
What a team!
Congrats to all!

Joanne, I am taking the new one back and telling them that it is junk. I really thought it must be my nano but I tried it on my SIL and it did not pick up the sensor there either. I had it in a shoe pocket so I even resorted to finding an old (i.e. ancient) pair of Nike+ sneaks and putting the sensor in there and it STILL did not work. Love my Garmin even more today.

I got the email back saying that you CANNOT manually enter miles under any circumstances so...:furious:  to Nike. I am counting the race miles though as that was my intent and doubling the 6.2 only, counting the 3.3 as single miles since they were extra. Is there another pair of Nikes in my future.......:duck:

Hi Everyone!

Today I ran hills. I tried not to complain too much. Its amazing how hard hills can be if you haven't done them in a while! (Is 4 months still considered "a while?")

6 miles in 1:03:03. This week I have 3 6 mile runsand a 4 mile run. Next week I push one of the 6 milers to 8 miles. And from there it gets too scary to think about right now.

Cecilia

My silly TNT coaches edited the training schedule and I'm now a mile ahead of where I should be. My legs want that mile back -- I'm hurting! I did 2 miles tonight in 24:17. The good news is that I only have 2 on tap for tomorrow instead of the 3 I would have had with the original schedule.

Joanne and Lisa, I just wanted to make sure you've been returning the defective Nike units and not buying new ones. My SportBand died after only 2 months of use and my local running store was happy to exchange it for me. The store owner said Nike takes them back without any trouble. In his experience, the failure rate has been about 10%, so we're certainly not alone.

Lisa...can you please tell me what my numbers for August were? My September goal is to increase atleast one of them! Thanks!!

Rode for two hours today then a 6 mile run in 70 minutes.
Not sure about the nike plus yet. It worked fine today but info is still not being transferred to my site. I was able to use my old receiver with the new shoe thing but it is still not uploading. I'm about to give up! Still waiting for the email back from nike to fix this.
