Although New Year's may be the traditional time for them, I always feel like the first day of school is the real beginning of my new year. So this year I'm using it as a starting point for some resolutions:

1. I'm going to read at least 30 minutes every day. This year I'm going to read all the books my Book Club will be discussing, whether I go to the meeting or not. I'm going to get through a stack of novels I've wanted to get to, and I'm going to read at least one classic book I should have read years ago (this year it's going to be Pride and Prejudice.)

2. I'm going to walk on the treadmill 30 minutes every day. No excuses. I have plenty of free time, a nice treadmill, and a big bottom. Something makes me think there might be a relationship between the size of my hips and the amount of time I spend sitting down, and I'm going to explore that relationship this year.

3. I'm going to de-clutter my house this year, one item at a time. So every day, one thing from the attic storage area - either cleaned and properly stored, given away or thrown out. Again, no excuses - plenty of free time, and a realization that if I spent a tenth of the time I use fretting about junk actually cleaning it out, I'd be done in six months.

4. For plesaure, at least 30 minutes a day working on my current needlepoint project. This is my passionate hobby, and I have some beautiful projects which would look great in my home, but are rolled up in Rubbermaid boxes under my bed.

Do you make fall resolutions?? What are they?? How long do you think we''l be able to keep it up????

I love this Idea!!

My youngest is starting K in a few days, so I have no excuses anymore!

If its ok with you I think I will copy your list 1-3, and substitute # 4 with some art project!

Thanks for the ideas!!

Yes, of course!!!! And just to keep myself honest, I did walk on the treadmill already (although pretty slowly!), read a half hour (Robert Penn Warren's All The King's Men - not my first choice but a Book Club book, so there you go...) and cleaned out a duffel bag from the attic. Strong evidence of mice, so it was easy to decide to throw away the contents (some older clothes and a cardboard box.) Now I feel like I can play a little before carpool time (which is where I will work on my needlepoint!) Then it's the regular afternoon grind of homework, dinner, etc.

Anyone else is free to join as well!!

Good idea :) I dont want the New Year to come and have nothing accomplished!

Last week, I started eating better.. and trying to get the gym more often. I only had takeout once this week (which is good for me..) And I went to the gym twice (really need to work on that.. lol)

I'm trying to read more too. I just finished a really cute book "Can you Keep a Secret?" by Sophie Kinsella.

I'm doing more scrapbooking lately too after taking about 2 years off! I really enjoy it and it keeps me busy in the evenings..

Also, saving money.. getting married in May and I Need every penny I can get my hands on :) lol

Okay here are mine:
1. Get up early and work out before class at least 3 days a week. It's not the working out that I have trouble with, it's the getting up early. ;)

2. Drink less soft drinks and other beverages, and more water! Hopefully working it down to 1 or 0 a week. :drinking1

3. Attend all of my classes every week. Okay, well miss no more than 1 class per week. :teacher:

4. Keep up on homework and studying for all classes.

5. Make sure I have a scheduled girls' night once a month. princess:

6. Catch up on my scrapbooking, now that I have spent all of this money on great new supplies. :teeth:

Walk my dog IMMEDIATELY after DD goes to school in the mornings. No excuses - even rain, snow and sleet won't stop me. The dog and I both need the walks! :dog: :)

Very good idea. Never thought of it for the fall.

1. must lose weight- walk the tracks at work during lunch hour at least 2 times or more a week.

2. no doubt my home needs to be decluttered.

there is more at the time I can't think of anything else. I have plenty of things I should do to improve myself.

To get my new home complete. We have been in it for two years now, and I have so much that I want to get done! I had to put things off due to my health. Now I am going to do something everyday and not overdo it. I have already started.
