Fall Comes to Florida!

Here in Central Florida we don't go down into the teens but in January, we do have a day or even a few days where the temps get a tad chilly.
Of course, chilly to a Floridian is anything below 65º :rotfl:

Not routinely, but it HAS gone down into the teens in the past. Many of the housing developments in suburban Orlando used to be orange groves that got wiped out in the freeze of 1983. I have pictures of people wearing ski parkas, hats, and gloves to WDW (only MK & Epcot back then) during the day in late December. The HIGH in JAX on one of those days (there were about 4 or 5 in a row) was only in the low 20s; the low was 11 degrees. Orlando was a little warmer, but not much.

Oh yes, it can get downright chilly here, which would be hard to believe. Heck, I find it hard to believe & I live here. :rotfl: Last winter we had so much frost on the lawn, it looked like it snowed--I regret not taking a picture because it looked so odd! I moved here to get away from the snow. :rotfl2:

It was beautiful outside this morning. I can only hope the daytime temps start dropping soon. :)

We were in Orlando two years ago in December and I couldn't believe how cold it was! I'm not sure what the temp was, but I knew it has got to be below 50. I saw lots of folks wearing their sweaters and jackets and even their winter hats. Since we were coming from the north, we were prepared to take the cold. We had our sweatshirts, pants, hats, gloves and of course our jackets. I guess we'll take the cold anyday in Florida than here in Michigan.

Actually we visited Michigan once and got a ton of snow, it was late Nov. It was not cold at all. We (the adults) played outside in that snow for several hours! I did not even zip my jacket up! But that same temp here, without snow, seems colder.

By the way, we warmed from 55 to mid 80's today and I ended up in shorts again. :sunny:

The coldest temp I saw last winter was 29 degree. I think that happened in February. It killed off most of my tomato plants. :(

That's cool that you guys got the change to play in the snow. I guess it's different when you're visiting vs living here. I don't mind the snow and the cold.. however after so long it gets old and and driving in the snow is no picnic! And temp eventually get down to a mean single digit os sometimes below 0. I like winter in Florida better. I can handle that!

My sister called me from Florida last night (she lives just below The Villages) and she was chuckling - asking me if I had the "heat on" up here (Adirondack Mts.) - which I did.. In the course of the conversation I asked her what kind of clothes I should bring when I head down to her place for the winter - right after Christmas.. She said it would be "cold" then, so I should bring a mix of clothes.. I asked what she considered "cold" and she said "Sixty degrees or less some days..."

Guess she's been in Florida too long.. Up here that's practically beach weather.. "Cold" is zero... :rotfl:

Glad you're having some nice weather.. And NO hurricanes so far!! How neat is THAT??? :)
CAnn please don't jinx us. And below 60 degrees is cold and under 32 degrees is frozen. My blood is too thin to deal with zero degree weather.

Coldest I have seen in Orlando was 25 degrees and we were tent camping at Ft Wilderness.
I've also seen it snow in Miami. Now that was a sight to behold. People were crazy.

We (DS and I) Visited WDW the week of Thanksgiving 2003 and I will never forget how cold it was when we were being taken to our room at POR at 7:00 am on a golf cart and it was about 40 degrees and the guy who was driving was wearing shorts and he was freezing also. That was the coldest week but it was beautiful and our most memorable trip ever.
