Hi Everyone,
I am planning a trip to DL in October, probably the 22-25. I REALLY want to avoid the crowds and my kids are young so I don't care about the park closing early or missing fireworks. I was just hoping people could post dates that their kids have fall break from school. We were there last year in early October for two days and the first day was so packed that we just left. I thought I saw this info posted here before, I searched but couldn't find it.
THANK YOU in advance for your help. Also, let me know if these dates are good or if they should be moved around. We are pretty flexible.
Thanks again.

Columbus day is the 8th, so that would be the prime 3 day weekend in October... I know Oregon schools have it off...

Our Colorado Springs school district has Fall Break Oct 8 - 19. I doubt if that will impact DL attendance at all since the district is so small, but those are the dates.

I also know that ALL of the schools in Utah are closed Oct 29 - 30 which will make that a fairly crowded 4-day weekend.

Here are some AZ fall break dates:

Scottsdale Unified: Oct 15-19

Kyrene (Tempe): Oct 8-15

Mesa: Oct 10-12

I looked at my daughter's school calendar (we're in Utah) and like RMH mentioned Utah schools are closed October 29 and 30 (Monday and Tuesday), but her school (and I'm assuming at least all of our district) is also closed October 25 and 26 (Thursday and Friday) too.

So with kids being off a Thursday-Tuesday I bet that's when most Utah families will take vacation.

HTH!

WHen I made my reservations for our Disney vacation on Sunday, I asked the customer service rep if she knew when fall break was. She said they only had a thanksgiving break there. I don't think that's right, but I thought I'd pass along what she said. She was w/ Disney vacations. Our fall break is Oct. 8 and 9 in Rio Rancho, NM.

I live in the Los Angeles area and my kids have a half day Oct. 5 and then are out until Oct. 15. Pretty much everyone we know have annual passes to DL, and we usually go for a few days then too.

The first 2 weeks of October are very busy. Some year round schools have off the first 2 weeks, Gay Days are in the first 2 weeks sometime and Columbus day 3 day weekend. Usually Mid week/mid month in Sept, Oct Nov first 2 weeks of Dec pretty quiet.

It's getting harder and harder to predict quiet times these days.

I live in Santa Clarita(just north of L.A.) and we have fall break from oct.8-14. My mom works at a high school in L.A. School District and they do not have a fall break. I'm not sure about other districts in the L.A. area though.

I just checked the L.A.U.S.D. calendars and schools on a traditional calendar do not have a fall break (they don't even have columbus day off). But schools on a track (year 'round) system do have a break for pretty much the whole month of oct. But that's only one of the three or four tracks so it's not the whole school that's off, only the students on that particular track.

We are in San Dimas (20 minutes north of Anaheim) and we do not have a fall break or get Columbus day off. I also know that 3 of the surrounding school districts do not have any time off in October. The earliest holidayminimum day is the 2nd week of Nov.

The only kids that would be off are year round kids and that varies by school and district. Just about every city has it's own school district, and LA is far from Anaheim in that regard (I would be more concerned about OC schools and south LA County schools like Anaheim, Santa Ana, Chino, Fullerton, Yorba Linda, Tustin, Costa Mesa, etc) These are much closer and more likely to be visiting at that time.

In our school district (northern CA) we have no holidays in Oct. That said, we are on a year-round school schedule, so 1/4 of the students are out in Oct. I know many DL area schools are out for the entire Thanksgiving week. I grew up about an hour north of DL, and we never had a fall break from school.

Yay a fellow Santa Clarita person. Judging by your username you are in middle school, you are so lucky to have a fall break!

I go to COC in Santa Clarita and we don't have a fall break :sad2:

Remember, besides the fall breaks -- there are many different schools on different tracks (for year round schools). It seems it is getting harder and harder to find an "off season". For instance, my daughter goes to year round school and gets most of November and March off. But different schools have different track breaks, and some of them fall in October. We are also going to DL the end of October (we planned this vacation before we knew our daughter will have the entire month of November off at her new school -- ugggh -- oh well, I just have to take her out 2 days), but I am thinking the crowds should be pretty low compared to summer.
Have fun!

Didn't expect to find any of my neighbors on this board! We're taking Bryce on his first trip to Disneyland in October. He doesn't know yet! We're gonna wake up one morning and surprise him!

see ya 'round in the grove!
