Count me in too!! I'm a senior on the 5-year plan so I think I'm going to apply for Spring 2011 for practice and see what happens! If I get it for then, I will go...but Fall Advantage 2011 is what I would *REALLY* love to do!


Here's my background that I posted on another thread!
I'm Rachel and I'm a senior at the University of Kentucky. I have 2 extra semesters before I graduate so thankfully I can still apply! =) I would have applied to do the Disney CP sooner, but due to major changes and some other things I put it on the back burner so I could graduate.

Well I forgot about it until I went to Disney's Hollywood Studios over Spring Break while I was staying in St. Petersburg, FL. My friend Shannon and I convinced our group to go to Disney for a day so we went! It was my fourth time and let me tell you, I am DYING to go back! Shannon was talking how she wanted to do the Disney College Program on the trip, and it made me remember how I read about it when I was a Junior in high school. I don't know why anybody WOULDN'T want to work for Disney!

So there's some background...if I don't do the college program Spring Advantage 2011, then I am planning on doing it Fall Advantage 2011. I'm going to do some serious thinking considering this could affect when I graduate, and I'm sure my parents would love for me to just wait until FA '11.
I like the idea of being a Character Performer(I'm 5'5"), Character Attendant, Attractions, Merchandising, FSFB, Recreation, Lifeguard(I've swam all my life, I would just have to get re-certified to guard!), Main Entrance Ops, or even Costuming. Basically I have a list, so hopefully they could put me in one of those places whenever I apply!

I made this post really long, but I just thought I'd introduce myself! If you want to follow my blog(it's not that exciting now...but once I apply it will be way more interesting...promise!)

Yay Rachel! I totally know how you feel about deciding between Spring and Fall. One nice thing about doing Fall, also, is that if you end up loving the program enough you could probably even do an extension without worrying about it interfering with classes at least!

Yeah...Spring would be sweet cause thats when my birthday is...but FALL at Disney would even more awesome! I was at Disney for New Years in 2000 and it was so much fun! I'm leaning more towards just waiting, graduating and then applying/hopefully doing Disney!

Oh gosh, I have the same reasoning! My birthday is in September so Fall 2011 will be perfect timing (Also the release of the Pirates 4 DVD may or may not also play a huge part of it... I will certainly be using my holiday discount on anything with Jack Sparrow's face plastered onto it hahahaha!)

What's Disney like on New Years?! I guess the park stays open til midnight, yeah?? I had decided a year ago that I wanted to try to spend every holiday in WDW by the end of my life. Doing the Fall CP would knock out quite a few (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years!) aaah

It'd still be good to apply for Spring though... just to get the experience of applying/interviewing. Gives you a little boost over the rest of us ;D haha

Your birthday is in September!? My mom's is the 24th! And hey, the 4th Pirates DVD? I don't blame you at all for using your future holiday discount for all of that stuff! =)

Disney is awesome on New Years...it was 10 years ago so it's been a while. When my family and I went it was open later, fireworks, a concert, and it was basically a big celebration like you would expect from Disney! I'll need to find the pictures next time I am at home and scan some so I can put them on my blog and on here! I love your idea of being at Disney for different holidays!! So far I have New Years and St. Patrick's Day(I was just in Disney's Hollywood Studios last month) but like you said, the CP would definitely help knock a few more out!

As for the applying thing, I actually got it from this girl's blog I was reading. When I read it I was like hey, I could do that too!

Hey hayleyg obviously it's your own decision but I'd recommend getting through your first year of college and THEN doing the CP. At least, if you're living on campus, IMO. it's nice to get fully settled in at school first. But that's just my two cents! (And I'm a bit biased towards Fall )

I actually applied for the CP (Spring Advantage 09) and got accepted (Attractions) but because the CP has barely been done at my school, it was left up to my department (which is theatre) and because it wasn't an entertainment role, I wouldn't have gotten credit and unfortunately had to turn them down. So, the next step is to go in 2011, after I graduate!

I ADORE theater, and would love, love, LOVE to work in entertainment, with probably attractions as my 2nd. At least, that's how it always was; right now my plan is to get accepted, do a year on the CP and then go into FT, so I might be ranking my role choices based on whatever will keep me down there!! Thankfully there's still time to decide.

I'm hoping since I've already been accepted once before that spells out good things for the future

They start accepting applications in January of that year- so ours would open in January of 2011.

I'm joining the hopeful ranks for the Fall 2011 program. I have a year of school left to finish my A.A., so this would be a nice finish. My top choices for roles would be Entertainment Costuming, Merchandise, then Attractions. Disneyland or WDW suits me either way.

If only these 8 months could come sooner. But then again the planner that I am is grateful for the time to prep for interviews and such.
