Fall 2016 planning (continuation of 2016 Free Dining Watch)

I am also flying out of Pvd in September for alittle less then 300 with EBCI... Super excited!

great price! did not think when I was trying to pick a week that worked with my job and hoping for FD that our return flight would be the Saturday b4 Thanksgiving. Had to convince sis that SW would be OK and she should be able to do family boarding with her 6 year old (9 year old too) and have EBCI too. happy to be under $400rt

Go to touring plans, ignore the "subscribe" stuff. Type "reservation finder" in the search bar at the top right of the home page. Click on the top result and you should see the following message:

"If you do not have a TouringPlans.com account, you may join TouringPlans.com. Although we encourage you to explore the many benefits that come with a reasonably-priced subscription, you do not need an active subscription in order to use the Reservation Finder; an account with only "basic access" for Walt Disney World is sufficient."

If you click the "join Touringplans" link, along the right side of the page (to the right of the subscription information form) is a blue link that says "basic access". Click that, and you can create an account for free and use the reservation finder.

Quoting from another thread but try this. i can try logging out and checking too if this doesn't work (I have a paid subscription - their lines app is worth the money IMO!) :)

Booked flights! FINALLY!!! It has been hanging over my head for months waiting for everything to fall into place. We actually racked up enough skymiles for DH, DD and I to fly for free!! That made it soooo much easier to pay the $479 for our other DD to fly. We used our Disney visa rewards to pay for that ticket, so we are flying for freeeeeeeee!!!! I want to hop up and down, I'm so jazzed!!

That's amazing!!! We have, at this point, resigned ourselves to driving. The flights are just too high for us this year.

Where are you from? I actually would like to drive sometime (I love road trips :) ) but then we would have to add more days to our trip and I doubt I can convince my husband of that since he doesn't get paid vacation. Also, we would rate a car rather than drive one of ours so that would add another expense I don't think he would agree to ;)

ETA: Also, our flights are free with Southwest RR points so I really can't justify the cost/time of driving.

We felt the same way, but we got delta credit cards, which came with 30,000 skymiles. That was the cost of one entire flight! Now, the bonus is 50,000 which would've covered almost all 4 of us! We would never have been able to fly without those bonuses!

We are driving too. Last time it cost less than $1000 to drive from Canada including hotels. The price for us to fly is around $1500 without all of our luggage. We use the saving to add on another day at Disney.:) The kids like the drive through the mountains, it is like we have a mini vacation before Disney.:car:

If I were in that situation we would fly also! We're from a smidgen North of Dallas. The family member/friend going with us can fly cheaper from CA than we can from TX lol.

That's awesome!!!! That's an awesome bonus!!!

Candace., we've driven several times and my grandmunchkins are really good about it. The only time that seems hard is on the way home, when we don't want vacation to end and were tired!

It's been great to see so many people get great deals!!! It gives me the gumption to keep looking!!

We live in a town about 30 miles east of St. Louis and my apple maps says it's a 14 hour drive. We made the drive in my grandpa's motor-home as a kid and I don't remember it being too bad. I think I'll have to make the drive again sometime :)

The drive is fun!! We have stops that are our favorites, like a candy store in Louisiana and a Russell Stover outlet on the way home. We like the candy store on the way because they have ice cream. We also like to look at the candy as they have so many different kinds, many of which you don't see in a regular store. But we go for the ice cream!

I stop at Russell Stovers to buy gifts for our neighbors who get our mail and water our plants. They're not Disney people and they like candy. Win win!

Keep checking SunnieRN!!! I believe I read on another thread that someone was able to get a deal 60 days out from their trip. Heck, I keep checking for FD at POR even though I'll probably just stick with POP.:)

Persistence definitely pays off! Because I've been (admittedly) obsessively checking over the last two months, managed to get FD, lower SW flights, lower rental car rate, Ohana reservation (just got a better time because of the lovely DIS members who I've learned about TP ADR finder from via a basic subscription!), and great tips on GC deals! Never expected so many things to work out, but heard so many people's stories so gave the persistence thing a shot and it does work!! :flower1::yay: So rewarding especially when it does work out!

That's the best part......the memories!!! :)
That's what I love about driving the memories. I remember going when I was little with my parents and younger brother in our station wagon pulling our camper behind us. When we drive now I half expect to finally get to Disney and it's closed like Walley World in National Lampoons Vacation, LOL!
