Fall 2016 planning (continuation of 2016 Free Dining Watch)

Soooooo... on another topic.... when should we expect the schedule to be released for Disney Animal Kingdom night events? This is going to be my main priority for planning as I can hardly wait so see the new shows !

It'd be nice, wouldn't it!? Considering RoL was suppose to start last week and they postponed it, I'm assuming they're having some issues?? The Jungle Book thing looks fun though, they probably won't do both though, right?

It'd be nice if they had SOME sort of plan on the website though, having their hours as 9-5pm is silly since I KNOW it'll be later than that! And I've got an adr for Boma at 7:55 and I need to know if I'm going to miss something I can't see earlier/later!

alright, well i did it. I subscribed to get a touring plan. I was thinking it would be a waste, but then somebody awhile ago said, if i can cut wait times for $10, thats a no brainer which i wasnt really thinking of it that way. If i could pay $10 at Disney and get shorter waits on busy days, i would do it in a heartbeat so it only makes sense to do it now too. PLus, there is a 45 day money back guarantee, so if i check the site and dont find anything useful then ill unsubscribe and get my money back!

i second that about getting AK hours now, its driving me crazy not having all the info!!

Room Discount PINS are rolling by the way:

Made a mistake in an earlier post with one of the dates, here's what's going around.

Up to 30% off - For stays 8/26-11/22 and 11/26-12/23.
And I got to take advantage of one! Thanks to going on vacation with my twin sister who ALWAYS gets pin codes!
So, we are doing 8 days with FD at CBR and 2 at BC with RO! Unless something at YC magically appears that is.

It sucks being away from the boards all day...

I'm still obsessively refreshing Disney site hoping to find CSR or CBR for our stay 11/15-11/19.

Me too...same dates... I don't think they released many rooms for Nov... I was on 15 mins after release and only pirate rooms were available and we are a family of 5...Really hoping that they release more rooms as Nov gets closer

I saw a room at CSR on those dates when I checked a little bit ago. I hope you both find what you want!

I've booked this trip 3 damn times. I'm obviously not who they are aiming for lol

Me either :thumbsup2

Also, do you guys use a touring plan when you go? We haven't been since 2012 so we havent used the FP+ system yet, but everything I read online says it's basically the only way to avoid unbelievably long lines anymore, so a touring plan is essential. We have been every 3 years for as long as I can remember, so we are by no means Disney newbies but the stuff I'm reading online about October crowds being out of control lately has me a bit spooked!

Exactly. I feel like I definitely know what I'm doing and I shouldn't really need a down to the hour plan, but what I'm reading online is that all goes out the window and you can't get by without one now that FP+ is in play.

Yes I made a custom one for each day, and followed it for the most part. My husband rolled his eyes so hard at my planning but when we waited 20 min tops for everything he was like ok you're a genius :p

I have never used an official touring plan, but I've looked at some of the non-TP ones for ideas. I sketch out a rough idea of the day based on what I want to ride and what wait times I'd expect. Then once I get there I adjust as necessary and/or based on what I feel like doing in the moment. Kind of like Meeko5 did but I don't feel compelled to follow it. The main thing for me has been strategically planning FP+ times to coincide with the busiest parts of the day.

Ok, sooo...all this talk about touring plans and FP+ has me nervous. I haven't been since 2011, so although I've used FP's before, I'm new to the FP+ concept. And now reading some of you guys talking about how a touring plan is essential, I'm really nervous. I definitely want to make the most out of our time there and have as little wait times as possible, especially since it will be our kids first time, but we are very laid back and "go with the flow" kind of people, so I don't know if I could make and stick to any kind of touring plan...so my question is, is it REALLY necessary to make one, or would we be ok just making our FP+ reservations (once I figure out how it all works) and then going at our leisure for everything else. We are going 12/10-12/16 if that helps!

I'm sure it will be totally fine! I'm just an obnoxious planner ;)

I'd say research what FP will save you the longest waits, use the morning time to get more done if possible then use your FPs when it starts to get crowded late morning/early afternoon.

Hopefully what I wrote above answers this for you, but if not here it is: I don't find it necessary. I do think that the more people you have the more structure it provides, and with groups that can be worthwhile so everybody gets to see their priorities. But I'm going solo and you will find me wandering aimlessly this trip! Haha, okay not quite, but I will probably only use a couple FP+ per day, utilize single rider line often, and then just kind of float around doing whatever I want. Long story short, at the most all I do is ID ahead of time what my **must ride** attractions are, schedule my FP+, and get a good look at the map. Then once I'm in the park, I make ample use out of wait time apps so I don't tramp across a park only to find a 70 min wait. If you do that, I think you'll be more than covered. Meeko5's ideas will help you a lot.

Who all will be there during food &wine?? When do menus come out? They haven't come out already have they?

ME!!! This will be my second F&W and I can't wait! I'm planning to eat at least 3 meals there. I've been obsessively checking AllEars to see when the menus and Eat To The Beat are announced.

Yesterday there was a Cars suite that kept showing up and then going away for my dates. Today, there has just been a steady stream of nuthin'! With all these reports of new rooms coming available I've been hopeful but I sure haven't seen anything new show up at AoA. Sorry to keep going on and on about it. Just ignore me. :)

Keep trying! Look at all the rooms people were able to snag today! You just have to wait for all the double bookings to be released!

EasyWDW tentative crowd calendar has our park days as:

5,5,3,3,3,4

Oh this sounds like a fun conversation topic! What kinds of crowds are being predicted for everybody's dates? I have 1,1,1,3. If that is even close to accurate, I will be in heaven!

Sorry completely :offtopic:, but I was lost for a while.....did you end up getting CBR or POR??

You can use the touring plans fax request for your room. I've had some luck with it.

Okay I just looked up the AK nighttime stuff. How did I not know about this?? So we are finally going to be able to see the safari animals in the dark? And ride EE in the dark? The only problem here is it really screws with my normal plan of leaving AK in the afternoon and spending extra time at MK or F&W!

I know, we always hit AK at rope drop and leave by 1-2:00. This year we booked TH breakfast at 10:30, so I have no idea how I can keep busy until 8:00, or whenever they make this show. We just may have to leave and go back. We didn't get hoppers, so don't know how to plan......

Last year in November, they extended the closing time to 7 or 8 at AK and the park is so pretty at night. EE was fun in the dark. And my kids got multiple rides on primeval whirl. The park emptied out as the evening went on. Will be interesting how that will change with the new things. I'm excited for the new nighttime entertainment.

We have all our ADRs, got everything we wanted. The first night we have Akershus but are considering switching to Boatwrights dining hall at our POR since it's our anniversary and they serve prime rib which is a fav of ours...

9/30-Akershus
10/1-Rainforest at AK
10/2-CRT before MNSSHP
10/3-Cape May
10/4-Teppan Edo
10/5-BOG
10/6-T-Rex
10/7-Hollywood & Vine Fantasmic pkg

Yay for ADRs!!!
I LOVE BOG!!!

For those wondering about the ROL and the Jungle Book show I just checked the rumor board and the moderator posted a rumor that the Jungle Book show will be for the summer and ROL may not debut until the fall (possibly with changes from what they had planned) and supposedly will contain some of the Jungle Book stuff.

I've never seen that park at night we are always out of there by 3. It will be nice to have that new experience. Thinking it will be a sleep in day!
