Fall 2016 planning (continuation of 2016 Free Dining Watch)

Who has made their ADR's for their fall trip already? What did you get? And what are your favorite meals at "the World?"

Yep! My ADR date was April 3, so I've had mine for a while! I couldn't wait till FD dropped to try to get my things cause I wanted a lot of highly sought after things... so yes, I'm one of those who hogs the reservations, but I blame Disney!

We are booked at-
CRT
1900 Park Fare (breakfast and dinner)
Ohana
Boma
Tusker House
Akershus
Hollywood & Vine (Minnie's Holiday Dine)
BOG lunch
BOG breakfast

I'm on a hoppin' FB group that I'm probably not allowed to mention here. It's HUGE and for.... junkies.... anyway, the head guy there is always eating at the Whispering Canyon Cafe and I might switch one of my ADRs for that... because it really looks delicious and I think they would embarrass the crap out of my kids :rotfl2:

ADR day for me is May 16th. waiting on Josh (EasyWDW) calendar for November so I can plan my park days and ADRs. We have QSDP this trip so paying OOP (Disney Visa Rewards). Thinking Tusker House breakfast and BOG lunch (have to have that braised pork).

Your dates and choices are similar to mine, but just different enough that we won't be competing for ADRs! My ADR day is May 19th.

I'm thinking BOG, but for early breakfast, and Tusker House, but for dinner. Also, an 'Ohana brunch for our day off from the parks. Probably Minnie's Holiday Dine, too, even though I've been warned of the food at H&V (we'd go for the holiday experience).

Oooh, and Princess Storybook Dining for my daughter. What do you think about that instead of CRT? I just don't want to use 2 credits on CRT when what she cares about most is seeing princesses... which she can do at Akershus.

Got it! POR Garden View 10/19-10/25 may still add a day even at reg price. Savings as of now compared to the reservation I had (minus one day) almost $1000!

ETA- to be fair we went from a preferred to garden view- I will walk extra steps for that savings at the resort we want!

WOOHOO!!!! That's so great! Congrats!

I made it here. What happened? Part 3 just got started.

Part 2 & 3 both got closed. We still don't know why :confused3

I haven't made ADRs yet but I'm planning to soon. The nice part of being solo is I can eat whenever they have a table open, I don't have to follow anybody's schedule :rotfl2:The terrible part of all of this planning is that I am moving to a new job this summer and I won't know until July at the earliest whether I can actually go :crazy2: But assuming I'm going I plan to get a few TS meals even though I am solo. I normally go with people who either choose restaurants that aren't all that great (Mama Melrose's, meh) or I go with people that are trying to have the cheapest trip possible so we don't do TS. On this trip I'm doing whatever I want! I'm hoping for Sanaa for lunch, Liberty Tree Tavern for toffee cake (just the cake! no meal!), and Skipper's Canteen for arepas as long as they don't take them off the menu when they change it >:(. Plus lots of F&W samples!

I'm also debating BOG for breakfast just so I can get in to MK early. $20+ seems like a lot considering I'd just be getting some eggs (I don't eat ham or bacon) but is it worth the money to get into MK that early?

I think you mean Minnie's Halloween Dine for Oct, right? I think it switches over to Holiday Dine on Nov 7.

Yep, that's what I meant! I couldn't remember the exact name. I just know some people don't know it's a themed dinner. I didn't until a couple months ago! Hollywood & Vine isn't worth it to me without cute characters ;)

I just wanted to remind everyone who is going end of Aug/Sept. Book a bounceback if they offer it and if you want to travel Aug/Sept. I believe last years BB, you could check in up to 10/1. We booked one when we were there in Aug, 2015. It only costs $200 and you can always get your money back. From the prices/rooms that are available, BB is so much cheaper as you can usually get standard rooms. We have a 10 night CBR standard with free dining (2 adults, 2 Disney adults, 1 child) for $4400. Just telling you all the price because it seems so much cheaper then people seem to be getting with this fd offer.

Agreed! I've heard the food isn't all that good, but the reviews of the holiday one weren't bad! I love the holidays and am excited to see the characters decked out for Christmas, but the holiday food selection sounds like traditional American Thanksgiving almost: green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, turkey, etc. They can't mess up that food too badly, can they?

I think it would be just as cool to see them dressed in costume for a Halloween-themed dinner! What do they serve at that themed dinner?

I don't know, I've thought about halloween food... pumpkin?? That's the only thing I can think of! lol

We had BOG pre park opening last time we went and would do it again. The food is just okay, but it was nice to walk down a fairly empty Main Street and get our pictures taken. We also got to ride 7DMT (although I guess not always the case) and Peter Pan before the park opened.

Early breakfast reservations allow you to get some great photos down Main St. before the park opens. Have you thought about breakfast at Crystal Palace?

Ohana is my number one choice that I got. :)
I have so many favourites....that's why I had to book two weeks of fd. Yep. I'm a glutton.
I got Ohana- my reservation is late on a MNSSHP night- 9:50. But my plan is to head over to the poly on the monorail, watch the electrical water pageant and fireworks on the beach with a cocktail or glass of wine and then go to dinner. Anyone know how to get from the poly to POR? Afterwards.

FWIW, I'm STILL waiting on the illusive Chase DV email. Why don't they love me? I've had the darn card for almost 11 years! (yes, I can see the DV offer on the Disney page, but I still want to actually get the email... I got the generic one from WDW but not the "special" Chase one). While we're at it, I'll take a UOC email too, kthanks.
I'm with you! I even have the DV plugged in as my card, but the offer does not show in my offer page. I never get the emails either.

Would ride monorail back to MK for bus to POR

I don't make my ADRs until June but I'm so ready to get it done. My plan as of now is Whispering Canyon (D), Crystal Palace (hopefully ppo so long as they don't change the hours on me after I book), Garden Grill (B) and possibly dinner (I loved the berry shortcake last year), Chef Mickey's, Minnie's Holiday Dine, Kona (B), Liberty Tree (L), Ohana (B and probably D too), CRT (B), Be Our Guest (D) and Tusker House (B). So A LOT considering I didn't switch resorts to get FD but hey it's my birthday :)

Also, we really enjoyed Minnie's Holiday Dine last year for those concerned about H&V. The food wasn't anything super special but it was good enough that we're going back.

I'm not really into character meet&greets and I don't like to eat much at breakfast so I think Crystal Palace would be wasted on me this trip. But I plan to go again in 2018 with my niece and I'm sure she'd love it!
