I have to get a fake acrylic toenail every summer so I can wear sandals and not scare everyone.

Anyone else have to do this?

Do you have a toe that's missing one or what?

I have started participating in marathons and after my last one, I lost a toenail about a month after (the marathon was early may). It's grown about halfway back out, but not completely. It seems like it's stopped growing! I'm hoping it is just my imagination.

Yep, I glued one on last December. I broke the nail on my big toe way back. I had a Christmas party to go to and was going to wear open toed shoes. I do my own nails, gel, so I just glued a tip on, did some filing, and presto I had a new toenail. Nobody knew the difference!!!!!

The toe has been injured sooo many times.

It fell off the first time when I was 17 when I tripped on a curb. I dropped a fridge on it. I could keep going.

Anyway, the toenail that grows out won't attach to the bed underneath and it catches on things. It is not painful, just ugly with no toenail there.

mine fell off after I smashed it with a 12pk of coke....I had to get a fake one until it grew back....and I wear open toes about 95% of the year....lucikly it's back and no more fake toenail!

This is so bizarre. I was just wondering the other day if this was possible? I had my nail ripped off in a weird freak fall. I have been wearing closed sandals since. Do the nail salons do this and will they think I am a nut asking for a fake toe nail?

Nope...I have now gone to three salons and all three of them just put one on, no questions asked.

If you have toenail fungus though, you need to bring your own instruments.

If you have no nail, where does the fungus live? :confused3 :teeth:

Wal-mart has some fake press on toe nails. I saw them the other day when I was there and thought that it would be a lot of trouble for just a toe nail. But after reading this thread I could see why a person would use fake toenails. Hope I didn't offend anybody.

Cool! Mom (foot under a door, stuck straight up and had to be cut off) and I (bowling ball, About the only thing I can get with BOWLING BALL :lmao: ) both lost one toe nail each years ago. It hurt SO much untIl it grew back.

Why, oh why, did I open this thread :badpc:

Yuck (insert vomiting smilie here :p )

I was somewhere the other day and a woman was standing in line in front of me with open toed sandals. I could tell her large toenails were acrylic because they needed a fill in and I couldn't figure out why anyone would go through all of that trouble. Makes perfect sense now...thanks for clearing up that mystery for me!

I actually have two friends who had fake toenails put on. One just lost the nail for no good reason. And the other lost it after doing a mini marathon. It was weird to see the fake nail on them. But even stranger to see no nail at all. One friend tried painting the toe and making it look like a nail. But that just looked creepy.

You actually can't tell on my feet. The fake looks the same. I do keep it filled.

And you don't have fungus if there is no nail, like me, but I know someone whose nail grows all funky due to fungus and she can't paint over it so she gets a fake one.
