Fairy Tale Life

I watched the highlights of the royal wedding today. It was wonderful, romantic, full of hope and promise. I am old enough to remember that Charles and Diana's wedding was also spectacular, and the world came together to wish them well, too.

It made me think that fairy tales really need the test of time to show their credibility. If a couple has walked through the trials of life and come through stronger, intact and more in love than ever, then we can truly say they have lived a fairy tale life.

I have lived that life, and I am so grateful.

I know there are many others here who feel the same, and I think that is simply wonderful. Let us toast each other, those who have stood the test of time and remain solid, in love and devoted to each other. Fairy tales really do come true! :)

Nice to know someone is living the fairy tale. My life's more like an issue of Mad Magazine.

Here's to you; Here's to us!

And how quickly a fairy tale can go up in smoke. After 35 yrs., my sister's marriage is over. As FredinFL eluded to, she has also said, "This mess I call my life." :(

My life is so many millions of times better than I ever thought it could possibly be, and that's all because I was smart enough to choose the man I did to be my husband and he chose me. I am really grateful for the life he has given me and for that I guess I'd say I'm living my own personal version of a fairytale. Some people might call my life a bore or too plain but to me, it's heaven on earth.

It always makes me so sad to hear about couples who split up after being together most of their lives. I don't know why it happens or how it happens but I pray it won't happen to me, I'd be lost.

I'm thinking your sister's marriage has probably been over for years, it's just the formality of finalizing it that has taken time.

Ditto! The young Duke and Dutchess bring much love and hope to the Royal Family and UK. :thumbsup2

Congratulations Saphire :wizard:!! We'll toast with you and yours!!

Praise God, I chose a keeper :worship:! Our love and marriage have stood the test of time and faith 47yrs. next week. :lovestruc

We’ve 'lived' and 'survived' for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health, to love and cherish......and still have hearts full of hope.

Our love has also blessed us with 4 wonderful children and spouses, also 13 sweet grands, who make our family very proud and never fail to amaze us. :cloud9:

Just saw this.:) I can tell you that, no, it hasn't been over for years. While they have not lived the life I would want to live, they've always been very much a couple. Now, my BIL is saying "he's been unhappy for years" but that's textbook divorce 101. Unless he's been fooling everyone for years and years, he's selectively forgetting the good times for sure.

I think between raising 4 kids (the youngest is 15, the oldest 22) and a new someone entering the picture, it was more than their marriage could take.

All I can say is, watch out who and what enters into your family's life because you never know what trouble can start up. That's all I can really say about it unless he makes the newspapers. ;)

 , Brenda.

We also have had a great run so far - 22 years and counting. Like any other couple, we've had our ups and downs, but we have a good life, 2 beautiful and caring children, rewarding careers, and most importantly, we still love each other with all our hearts.

Not a fairy tale life, but more like a fascinating novel. High ups and deep downs, but it all evened out and DH and I celebrate 45 years of marriage (50 years as a couple) on 28 May. He's definitely a keeper.

I wouldn't say it's been a fairy tale, but DH and I are pretty darn happy after 19 years of marriage and almost 27 years of being together. We have two great daughters. We are financially stable.

That's not to say it has all been a fairy tale, because there have been some rough times, but we are at a really good place right now.
