I got $1.64 on some cash from Sainsburys yesterday![]()
Just been looking at the best place, looks like its here at $1.6625, Anyone used them? http://www.bestforeignexchange.com/Exchange-rates-check-exchange-rates.php
Going to London in a few weeks so might be an option for me, need some Dollars & Euros, looks like you just order online to get the better rate then pay cash or debit card on collection.
I use them ALL the time Wayne as do the cast majority of people I work with ....... and I work for a bank ! Definitely order online as they offer you a better rate and then you go to one of their retail shops to pay over your money and collect your currency. Just one piece of advice take your ££ that you are converting in cash as if you use your debit card it counts as a cash withdrawal.Just been looking at the best place, looks like its here at $1.6625, Anyone used them? http://www.bestforeignexchange.com/Exchange-rates-check-exchange-rates.php Going to London in a few weeks so might be an option for me, need some Dollars & Euros, looks like you just order online to get the better rate then pay cash or debit card on collection.

One other thing you have to do your online order on the day you collect.
Confused now about debit card.I read this on Moneysavingexpert "there’s another possible hidden charge at bureaux de change. All credit cards charge a cash withdrawal fee (which means you can also pay interest, even if repaid in full). Therefore, if you're buying currency, use a debit card, which isn't allowed to charge this fee."
I always use my debit card for currency purchases and never been charged, although a couple of times I have been warned that my card provider could count it as a foreign transaction and charge me the associated fee. That hasn't happened though - I bank with Halifax and First Direct.
I can only pass on what I've seen and heard on many occasions. Every time I've been in the queue and a customer says they are paying by debit card they suggest to the customer that they go and withdraw the cash from their nearest bank as they would be charged for using their debit card.
Other than that I would recommend to anyone to use use them as they always seem to offer a very good rate and if you can use the Cannon St. Branch there is usually not too long a queue. From experience the Liverpool Stn branch is always at least a 30 min wait as the queue is always long and I can't comment on the other branches as I haven't used them
Mine would be a Halifax debit card if I didn't use cash. Just read the fees page on Halifax website, if the transaction is in $'s then there would be a $1.50 + 2.75% fee. If the transaction is in £'s then no fees. I assume they charge in £'s?
Ah, maybe the sign means a charge, rather than treating it as cash withdrawal? I know that Cheque Centre charges me £1 if I use my debit card, which I've never really worried about. I don't carry cash. At all. I pay the £1.

I will have to try work out where we are going and when. It will be Easter weekend, I know Saturday and Sunday evenings will be taken up with the theatre (Jersey Boys & Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) but no other plans yet. I would like to see David Bailey's Stardust exhibition if possible.
