Fairfield vs Marriott

I currently have 2 reservations, at the Marriott by the convention center and at the Fairfield by the main gate.

Trying to figure out which one to keep, the Marriott is a little cheaper actually (got the deal that includes $100 disney gift card every night, free parking etc.), but it is further from the park.

From the looks of the rooms, the Marriott is much nicer, but I am not sure if they quality is worth it if I am so much further from the park. I will not be making return trips during the day, just out in the morning and back at night.

Anyone have experience with both of these? Opinions?

No Kidding! We were there 15yrs ago (son won a contest at school),"very nice",of course back then they had their own shuttle. Unless you use ART or like driving back and forth,I'd choose Fairfeild. But 'that' is a smokin deal

We stayed at the Fairfield 4 years ago (our 2nd trip to Disneyland). It was basic, no frills. Rooms were clean but dark. Adequate space for our family of 4. A little noisy. No breakfast. The main reason we chose it was we got a good deal and could easily walk back and forth to the parks. After our first trip to Disneyland the year before, I vowed to never again deal with the hassle of ART, and we haven't. We probably won't ever bother with the Fairfield again though because we have found other walking-distance hotels we like for similar or cheaper prices, and there was nothing special or memorable to us about the Fairfield.

I travel a lot on business and stay at Marriotts a lot. I got an email about SoCal deals. I actually just found it on the website for the hotel.

If you go to the Anaheim Marriott website and enter your dates and search, it should pop up in the "room packages" section, if it is available. Its not that cheap, but its $219 a night with free parking and a $100 gift card for each night. I can't really scoff at that deal. Will cover some meals at the park.

I saw that deal too when searching. I have book the Anaheim Marriott Suites but wondering what's the diff between the AnaHeim Marriott and the Anaheim Marriott Suites other than the title.

I thought the same as you first, I called and its one gift card per night.

How old are your Kids?

With kids over 2, I would go with Howard Johnson, its about 500 yards (a bit more than 2 foot ball fields) from Disney entrance.

They have a REALLY cool pool. Water slide and its a Disney Neighborhood Hotel.

The Disney card is GREAT, but just how far is far?

The Dennys between the Howard Johnson and the Park entrance is REALLY good, fast Friendly.

I've stayed at the Marriot and loved it. I have no problem taking the ART. It picks you up right out front the hotel and takes you to Disneyland. I don't even remember how many stops it makes. None of them make more than 4. I'd much rather stay there and take the shuttle than the boring, (but nice and clean) Fairfield. The shuttles run every 30 minutes, so it has never been a problem.

Was at the Marriot about 8 years ago. The hotel was very clean and nice as what you expect from a typical Marriot. Hotel seems to cater to business travelers. I remember a bus picking everyone up to DL right outside the hotel lobby. Back then had no kids so didn't find the shuttle (or ART) much of an inconvenience.

Was checked in at the Fairfield Inn last year for 3 hours. Just couldn't stay there because of ower-powering smells from the chemicals used to disinfect the room. Beds and bathroom looked clean but everything else in the room look worn. Nothing special about this place other than location.

I don't have any kids, so its myself, fiancee, her sister and brother-in-law. So the distance isn't really an issue. Based on google maps, its about 1 mile, which isn't bad for me, get a little extra exercise in.

Thanks for the input, the pictures did make the fairfield look a little dated. I travel all the time for business and as a result, I am kinda a hotel snob so I may have to stick with the Marriott. I have walked from the Hilton next door and that took about 20 minutes tops, probably closer to 15.

However, it was about $100 more per night for the Marriott (with gift card deal--regular room was close to FFI). I didn't see any advantage to paying $100 more to get a $100 gift card so I chose FFI for its location.

While there, we saw the exact location of the Marriott and it wasn't too bad IMO. I'm a good walker and wouldn't have minded shuttle and/or walking, but it sure seemed easier to stay at FFI.

I had a $100 gc for Marriott properties, so that's why I was deciding between the 2.

You don't get the free breakfast at FFI even though FFI is a Marriott property? That doesn't seem fair ! We had coffee (but not breakfast) at the food place in FFI. Sadly its not a hotel thing, its the fact that I get into the concierge lounge, and the FFI doesn't have one.

Yea, that may not be a bad idea either, since we will just be crashing in the room at night. Thanks for the continued help
