Fairfield Inn...will it work for us?

We definitely want a hotel within walking distance, and a super-comfortable bed is at the top of my list (also cleanliness.)

It'll be me, DH, DS8, DD5, and my 19yo brother. Will the FFI work for us? We'll have 2 queen beds, and then the small pullout bed. I was thinking the little bed might work for DD5, then my brother and DS8 in one bed, and me and DH in the other.

Cost is not a huge issue, but at the same time we will mostly just be sleeping in the room and not spending a lot of time there.

We would love a suite, but most of the suites on Harbor within walking distance are older motels with crappy old beds...I'm used to something a bit nicer (like Hyatt, Doubletree, etc.)

All suggestions appreciated!

Our dates are either 3/13-3/17 or 3/15-3/19, we can be flexible.

The kids suite at the HOJO may work for you, it's right next door to Fairfield Inn. The kids suite have two rooms, one room has a king bed, and the other room has bunk beds and a pullout sofa. There are also rollaway beds available at $10 per night if your brother would prefer a rollaway bed. They suites are new, only a few months old, so will have new beds in them. The only downside to them is that they on the freeway side of the building so there may be some road noise.

I second the Hojo recommendation. If you can, get the entertainment rate (half price). They have a website listing the available dates or you can call the Anaheim Hojo's directly and ask (be sure you ask for in-house reservations). Even without the suite, the rooms are much larger than FFI's. Should all the suites be taken, ask for one of the corner rooms in Building 2; they are much larger than the regular rooms but the price is the same. Be aware, however, that (a) you have to pay for a rollaway if you want one and (b) there is no table/chairs in that room. It's huge, and the bathroom is much larger, but it lacks a balcony and a table. The standard rooms are also quite large, though.

FFI has a couple of advantages: the distance is a bit shorter and they have onsite eating. However, I still prefer Hojo's, mainly because I like the rooms and grounds a lot better. Some people like the inside corridors at Hojo's but I personally found I don't care that much either way where the corridor is.

ETA: Just checked your dates and as of this time, they are not available at the Ent. rate at Hojo's. They update that quite often, though.

My friend loves the Park Vue Inn because it's directly across the street from the entrance. I've never stayed there but she stays there every time she goes (5-6 times/year). She says the rooms are nice, clean and they have a pretty good continental breakfast included.

I love the Fairfield and it would work great just like you have explained. The fold out chair would be great for a pre teen or younger child.

I like HoJo's too...I personally would pick which ever is cheapest on your dates.

Both are excellent choices. HoJo's had a nicer pool/water play area, Fairfield is closer.

Good luck deciding.

I have never been to the HOJO, but the rooms at FFI are pretty small. I'd say you will be smooshed with 5 people. But seeing as you are only there to sleep maybe it's not a concern for you. We liked the FFI, though. Good service and close to DL!

I looked online, but there are no kid's suites showing up for our dates at HOJO. Is this something you have to call for?

Thanks flitter, do you know if the kid's suites will show up on their online reservation system if they're available? And how much do they usually run?

I actually don't have any kids so I've never inquired about the prices for the kids suites. However, I tried to look on the HoJo Anaheim website and wasn't able to pull up the prices for the kids suites at all. Keep in mind that the Entertainment rates are usually 50% off the regular prices so expect them to be a little over $200. Perhaps another DISer will be able to give you a better answer.

Edited to add: Oh, you should probably call (714) 776-6120 and ask for in-house reservations. The staff there will definitely be able to answer that question for you. Good luck!

Hojo "kid suites" are not listed as such, I think they are listed as "king Suites??" Let me see what I can find...

Ok, I looked it up, it is listed as the "one king bed suite" and for the random 5/5/10 date I chose, it is listing the price at $164 (but dont forget even if your date/s are not available at the full entertainment 50% discount, you can phone inhouse reservations and recieve a 15% (??) discount), so that would bring it down to $140ish

Well HOJO's is completely sold out on 3/13  so if I move my date up to 3/15 (which is fine for us) we can get the Premium Queen/Queen room and use a rollout. No suites available, I bet those book up fast and far in advance!

My top priority is bed comfort, and from what I've read the pillowtop mattresses at HOJO's are lovely. So that's great. Knowing this, where will the rollout bed fit? I've never used one in a hotel before, EVER! Will it be less crowded :crowded: than the FFI with the pullout sofa?

Hojos rooms are bigger than FFI. However, we were quite comfortable at both places with the exception of when I stayed in the King room. Here are pics of the Premium room w/ 2 queens. That's how they used to look. Here is how they look now. The rollaway would probably fit in that little corner by the door to the balcony or in front of the rest of the beds. (In front of the beds would make it pretty cramped, imo.)
And here are my photos from my recent stay at FFI. FFI was very clean and the beds were very comfortable; every bit as comfortable as Hojos. I was a little concerned as it was my first time staying there, but we were very happy. (Also DH doesn't like open corridor rooms, but again we were very happy there even with open corridors.) There are photos of the extra bed in my FFI review. The pool area was very clean albiet smaller than Hojos. (Photos are in the FFI review.)
The beds at Hojo are also very comfortable. Here is my review of Hojos pool area fwiw.
HTH. We would stay at either place again.
