which one would you recommend? I might be going to DL in Sept. Ideally I would like to stay at the Grand Cal, but can't afford it. I want a hotel where I don't have to deal with a shuttle. I know Fairfield and PPI are both directly across the street from the entrance. Any reviews on both would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :goodvibes

I'm not sure where the Park Place Inn is, but I know the Park Vue Inn is directly across the street. We'll be staying there next week. I'd check out Trip Advisor for reviews as well as this site.

My DD8 and I stayed at Fairfield Inn last week for one night. Overall I was happy with it. I requested a high floor and we got a 6th floor room with a view of the Disneyland park. I got an AAA discount which saved me a little money. The room was clean and parking and internet were free. I also think there was a fridge in the room. The hotel has a small marketplace where you can get a few grocery items (cereal, millk, snacks), Pizza Hut and Seattles Best Coffee. It also has a small arcade. The pool looked fine, but we never used it. The walk to Disneyland was also fine. Overall the staff from the front desk to housekeeping were pleasant to us.

We have stayed at both. I think I prefer the Best Western Park Place as it is literally RIGHT across the crosswalk and those extra steps seem to make a difference for me at the end of the day. The Fairfield Inn is about 3 or 4 hotels down on Harbor but it is set farther back off of Harbor Rd making it about as far as the Hojos which is better in my opinion. The rooms at The Best Western seemed bigger though I thought the service was better at the Marriott. Both offer free wireless but I think Fairfield Inn's wireless is more in the common areas. We had no trouble "logging on" from our room at the BWPPI though we had a room at the front of the building.

The pools are equally weak (Small/ off the parking lot) but our kids are happy to swim anywhere so that was not a factor for us. The BWPPI had horrendous parking while we were there but not sure that was the norm. Like I said, I give the edge to BWPPI but the Fairfield Inn is a good choice too depending on the rates you find.

Good luck!

I haven't stayed at either, but I would mention that the BWPPI is the closest non-resort hotel. The walk from the BWPPI to the DL entrance is 5 minutes. (The only hotel that's closer is the GCH – and that's a 4 minute walk to the DL entrance.)

From a quick search for September (weekday):
Fairfield Inn: $136 (including tax) for 2 Queens
BWPPI: $118 (including tax) for 2 Doubles
BWPPI: $141 (including tax) for 2 Queens and one sofa bed

Just my 2 cents: the entertainment rate for the HoJo would be $67 (including tax) for 2 Queens in building #2.

The walk from the Fairfield is around 9 minutes, while the walk from the HoJo is around 10 minutes.

There have been other threads on the DIS about these hotels, so it wouldn't hurt to try a search (if the search function is working). Otherwise I would recommend doing a google search for "disboards" and the hotel name. I would also recommend doing a search on www.tripadvisor.com to get more opinions.

HTH :earsboy:
