Fairfield Inn - new parking rule?

I’m going Memorial weekend. I got an email from Fairfield saying I can only park my car after 12 on check in day and can’t park after check out at 11am. Is the new? If I have to pay $24 a day to park, I want to park all day.

I’m sorry, I don’t know how to insert images.

Not sure it's new, but if it's Fairfield Inn by Marriott, I've never known Marriott to allow people to park all day. Parking (at least at the hotels that I've been to) starts at the time one can check in (which is 3 pm or 4 pm) and ends at the time that one is required to check out (which is usually 10 or 11 am). Usually, you can ask if they can extend the check out of parking, especially when you're at a conference, which is usually why I'm at one of those hotels.

BTW, you're not paying "per day", you're paying "per night"

Disney is the only hotel that I know that allows you to park all the way until 11:59 p.m. of check-out day.

I’ve stayed at just about all of the Marriott hotels near DLR including the new JW (as well as many, many other Marriott hotels all over the country) and have not found this to be the case. I’ll often show up at 6am to check-in, park my car, and hopefully get into my room then walk over to the park to make it to rope drop and I’ve never had any issues with doing this. We’ve also kept our car in the parking lot until we’ll after checkout time and that’s never been an issue, either.

However, I do know that both the Fairfield and Courtyard have very limited parking. I heard, at least for the Courtyard, that you now have to pay an additional fee to leave your car in the lot beyond checkout. I will be staying at the Courtyard the weekend Avengers Campus opens, and I will pay the tickets extra fee rather than move my car. I hope that’s not the case, but I can imagine much more people are driving to DLR instead of flying, which is impacting their already limited parking spaces.

Thank you for info. I’m mainly stay at Sheratons. The 2 times that I had a staycation at Anaheim. I was able park in the morning on check in and leave late on check out. I’ve stayed at the Sheraton near the convention center & the hotel that is now currently Four Point and they didn’t mind.

Thanks again.

BWPPI doesn't allow you to park before check in (at least they didn't when we stayed there Jan 2019) and you have to be gone by 2 pm or something like that. At that time they didn't even allow you to pay to stay later on check out day. That's part of the reason I'm staying at Tropicana next time. Yes, I have to pay for an extra day of parking, but I can leave my car there on check out day.

That’s not a standard Marriott practice- I’m titanium (75+ nights per year) with Marriott and have never been told when I arrive before check in time that I cannot park, nor been told that if I have to stay after checkout for whatever reason that I have to move my car. Due to flight times, this situation is quite common for me (I may land in a city on check in day at 900 am and head directly to the hotel or have a red eye out and stay at the hotel all day before flying out)

now it wouldn’t surprise me if some marriotts had a rule like this (for example the ones around Disneyland could enforce this due to the limited size of their lots and high demand for parking) but I’ve never experienced this even at the marriotts around Disneyland (my brother lives in San Diego and often we’ll leave at 600 am from San Diego and drive straight in, stay one night at the Fairfield Anaheim resort/ Spring Hill suites, park before check in, stay one night and then leave our car at the hotel until 1000 pm the next day when we drive back to San Diego)

I will be following this thread to see people’s recent experiences because this would negatively affect our future plans at Disneyland

Just be thankful they are not charging an added daily $3.95 electrical surcharge for the elcrtical power you will be using during your visit...
New fees added at the Artisan Resort announced yesterday in Las Vegas... on top of the resort fees and taxes and and and.

So, I went to check the last pre-pandemic work conference I attended out of town and oops, it was the Hyatt that did that to us (said we had to check out of parking by a certain time). It was in a touristy area of San Diego so maybe that's why? It was close enough that I drove my own car instead of flying and renting.

Sorry about the wrong information OP.

Many of the hotels are now selling theme park parking to people not staying at the hotels, I'm sure this is their way of trying to make a little extra.

That’s really crappy if they are squeezing their guests to maximize spots to sell to others.

Someone posted in another thread that they are forcing people to leave the lot at checkout. That really sucks.

This particular Fairfield has charged an extra day if you were parked past noon or 1 since way before the pandemic - But the kicking out portion is new. It used to be you could stay parked and they would just charge you the extra night. I never did because my AP covered the parking costs.

Well, in all fairness it probably is that combined with the fact that there are no passholders that have parking included and many of the hotels that are offering it are a closer walk than the parking structure and charging the same price as Disney is. This means people are more likely to park there over the structure.

Thanks everybody for the great info. I’m just going to cancel. If I don’t find another room, I’ll just do the drive everyday. I only live 30 miles away.

Here’s the part of the email about parking.

Parking
Self-parking/Valet parking is available for one vehicle at $24 plus tax per night. Parking for any additional vehicle is not going to be available due to limited parking spaces. A parking pass will be given to you at check-in to place on your dashboard that must be visible each night. At this time, parking on property before 12pm on the day of check in and extended parking after check out time is not available. Alternate parking locations will be available at the front desk.

I mean, yes. But these hotels have suffered significant losses and also now have a ton of costs to recoup

Totally. I wouldn’t have a problem paying for two days' worth of parking. I do have a problem with needing to move my car several times for two days/one night, and that would make me just stay somewhere else instead.

that's the first time I have seen anything like this.

I have always been told that parking was good until midnight on checkout day. I remember my brother's family leaving the park at 11 or 11:30 pm on checkout day.

at least they gave you full warning. I have seen some information that the hotels are booking parking spaces like hotel rooms so I guess it is the sign of the times.

hopefully these things will ease as things get back to nornal.

I've stayed at Fairfield many times over the years... they have always had limited parking availability in my experience... many of the parking spots around the back and side of the hotel are taken up for housekeeping / storage etc... I am going this weekend for 2 nights, but plan to park in DL garage in the morning before I can check in... just move the car in the afternoon I guess. I did call the hotel last week to ask about parking, and they said "no extra parking time allowed" so... as long as they have space for my car during my stay I guess I will live with it

Don't know if this works with your budget and needs, but I stayed at the Park Vue inn a few weekends ago and they allow guests to keep their cars parked until one hour after park closing the day of checkout. On the flip side, this probably makes early parking before check-in less likely.

Pre-covid, my experience when checking parking options at hotels was that it ran the gamut when trying to extend parking before check-in or beyond checkout - yes, with additional parking fee, yes depending on space availability and a flat no. I was pleasantly surprised at Park Vue's policy. With the new recent hours, we checked out and had the option of leaving our car until 10 p.m.

Thank you for the recommendation. Unfortunately Park Vue is sold out that weekend.
