Is there really a paintbrush that CM's hide for you to find on Tom Sawyer Island? Have read about it, but never found it. Has anyone found it? If so, did you get anything? Always have heard rumors of a free drink coupon or some such. Just wondering... and looking for any paintbrush hunting tips if this turns out to be true!
Thanks everyone, can't wait for my pixiedust to begin on September 23! :wizard:

It is true. There are 6-8 brushes hidden on the island. When you find one- bring them back to the boat and you will recieve a special fastpass for either SM or BTMR that can be used anytime thoughout the day. Good Luck!

Yep...'tis true! We found one right near Aunt Polly's one afternoon and I let my DD, who was 5 at the time, pick it up and turn it into the CM. We received a family "front of the line" pass to either Splash Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain. I was surprised that we were able to find one, because it was late in the day (3 pm or so), but it was pretty well hidden in the bushes.

The CM at BTMR let my daughter keep the pass too, so it's now in her memory book!

Fact! We just did this in April 2006 on Spring Break. Tip: look on the rafters in the mines. The paint brushes have yellow handles and white bristles. We carried it all over the island, and even took a picture with the kids pretending to paint the fence over by Aunt Polly's.
When we were done with the island, we went back to the raft area. We told the CM there that we had found a brush, and she told us to meet us over by the rock wall when we got back to the other side. We did so, and she gave us a pass (equivelent to an anytime fast pass) for either Splash Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

My DD12 thought it was the greatest thing evah!

We looked everywhere we could think to look in December and never had any luck. We hope to do better this year when we go.

We had good luck (finally!) last week. It's best to be on the first raft to Tom Sawyer Island at 10:00 a.m. (the TSI opens an hour after the park). The raft captain will announce the paintbrush scavenger hunt to each raft in the morning (and until all of the brushes have been turned in). A CM told me that they place the paintbrushes low enough for small children to find -- and they are never very well hidden. They might be sitting on a rocking chair, a barrel, a box, or stuck into the webbing of the playhouse up on Hick'ry Switch Hill (that's where we found ours!).

Here is a copy of the certificate. It will be signed and dated on the back by the raft captain. It is only good on the day issued, but we never used ours because it was raining so hard last Tuesday, there were no lines! :)

That's the certificate most commonly reported as receiving, but we received a different one on 10/7.

It didn't mention TSI. It had Pinocchio on it, and was good for any MK ride. Since the lines were so short, we saved it.
