DH joined facebook at the request of his much much younger sister (she's 21, he's 45).

Well, now she's sending comments to him and he wants to post back but isn't sure how it's done.

Can someone explain this to me so I can explain it to him.

If she wrote on his wall, just click the "wall to wall" under her comment and write back. Or he can go to her profile, and write on her wall by typing in the box that says "write something". Beware that this will be public and can be read by all her friends.

If she wrote him a private message, it would be in his "inbox" and you just write back in the reply box. Messages sent via inbox are private and can't be seen by others.
