ok now that everyone has shown me how to use facebook, can someone explain Twitter to me???

Twitter is like a mini-blogging website where you can post what you would post, say, on your Facebook status. Most people use it to list whatever they're doing at the moment. You can choose to turn on mobile updates that will send the updates from people who you follow to your phone.

I like it, but it's certainly eating up my texts per month...

I am on Twitter, WDWOwner and there is a LOT of other Disney fans on there too. I have made a lot of friends through Twitter.

If you go to http://twitter.com/wdwowner and click on Following you will fing a bunch of other Tweets that love WDW.

Have fun.

I'm a certified Twitter addict, and I'd LOVE to see the DIS team tweet!

(Guys, if you want to some help, I'd be glad to share what I know about using Twitter for PR:) )

Thanks for bringing this up - I listen to a bunch of podcasts where they say "Follow me on Twitter" and I know what it is, but I haven't yet figured out the appeal (beyond following someone who's doing something particularly noteworthy, such as riding the Tour de France....and only while he's doing it!).

But I'll be checking out some of the links shared here - I hate to be behind the times, especially since I am now a Facebook addict!

For something like the dis, it would be a great notification medium. A short message with a link to a larger story. Some examples might be,

A Pete Rant in the blog (insert link here)

Disney releases new discounts (insert link here)

We are doing a live call in show call NOW!

Email show is up (insert link here)

Kevin is putting on his glasses

Ok, the last on might only be of interest to the podcast bingo people. :)

Once Corey comes back from maternity leave he could even automate some of it so new blog postings would generate an automatic tweet.

That's a good point - it would be fun to get in-the-moment updates like that (oooh, especially the one about Kevin's glasses!). But the Podcast team is our celebrity - I can't imagine folks would be quite as interested in what little ole me has to say!

Maybe I'll set up an account and start to follow some people - is there some etiquette that says you can't follow people without sending out your own tweets?

Follow away. You don't have to post. It's just like the disboards. One to follow is WDWNEWS which comes from Disney. They don't put out a whole bunch of posts (I think there have been 2 this year). but you do get a heads up on some things.

Can you direct my to the thread (if there is one) where everyone showed you how to use facebook. I am not understanding it very well since signing up a few days ago.

There are great little widgets that you can add to your homepage that displays the latest tweet.

Best way to get to know twitter is to sign up and give it a try. Follow some folks and engage in some two-way communication-- that's the best part! Twitter etiquette suggests that you tweet a few times so that folks who want to follow you will know what you're all about.

Yea!! I never knew there was a DIS Facebook group. This is NOT good for my DIS addiction. :badpc:

I still don't get it but that is okay.. I really don't need another addiction :)

I have a hard time with both at times. They can be intimidating. The best thing is that it takes my two favorite addictions and combines them into one. What a time saver!

I'm not on facebook but I'm on myspace and on Twitter, I'm 1TrickPwny

But I don't really understand it, so I just write extremely random updates :cool1:
