I am 34 years old and have always used whatever lotion we have on hand for my face. I got a sample for Oil Of Olay Difinity (I think this was the name) night cream and really liked it. I am thinking I would like to start using more of a "grownup" face cream. :goodvibes I don't even know where to start. I looked at the HUGE isle of products at Target. The range in prices is amazing... Do I need to buy the really expensive stuff??? Help. :)

What do you use? What do you recommend? Should I get a day and a night cream? I wouldn't mind a product with sunscreen.

My skin is normal, not oily or dry. I don't break out often.

Thanks!

I use Olay Definity... it's pretty good, I have used it for several years. I bounce between that and thier Regenerist line. I use the Walmart brand of Equate-Regenerist face wash every day. I have tried others, but I still keep coming back to the Olay line. I try to buy my face lotions when I have a coupon. The biggest part is to make sure that you use a lotion or a cream with a sun screen. I don't use a night cream all the time, but at least once a week I use one, I have a couple that I bounce back and forth, one from Aldi and Olay..Try a few and you will know when you find what works for your face and skin.:hippie:

BTW, I am 47.. I have been using some kind of facial moisturizer for 23 years and I don't have many wrinkles at all.. just the frown ones between my eye brows and some fine lines on my forehead. I do also use an eye cream every day.. I love the Definity line of eye cream, but I like the regerist one too, next in line is the loreal one that comes with a PM and Am in one thing. I really don't think it's the actual products, it just the routine and the consistancy of using something every day.

Does anyone know of any good face cream with Vitamin A and/or Retinol and where you can purchase it.

Not only is the moisturizer important but the cleansing solution you use will also make a huge difference in your skin. If you are using a regular soap on your face, no amount of lotion/moisturizer, whether expensive or not, will offset the damages done by the soap.

My facial products do not belong on the budget board. I use amala beauty products. The reason I like them is because I have very sensitive skin and their product has been the only thing I've tried in the past 30 years that did not bother me. They use all organic plants; their products are not full of water and various types of alcohols. I'm in my mid-50's and my skin is my best feature.

I find the great thing about having day & night creams is the day cream has SPF, Night creams don't & for me using a night cream has made a world of difference because I find without a SPF the stuff soaks in better. And my face feels better in the morning so I am using less of my day lotion.

I too like the Olay Regenerist line. But I cannot use anything with an SPF - it makes me break out. :sad1: So I just use the night creams instead and wear a wide-brimmed hat outside. It is such a bummer that I have too choose between zits or wrinkles! :rotfl2:

I do buy expensive creme, like La Prairie, La Mer, Sisley, etc. My skin is super sensitive, and those creme keep my skin from getting itchy/dry/sensitive. I'd love to use cheaper products if my skin wouldn't give me that much trouble. Last year, I even got burned after trying some new products. I will stick with my current cremes.

I really like the Biore product line. I use their facial wash as well as moisturizers. In the summertime I use the one w/ the SPF included it's a 2 in 1 cream. They are mid priced and work well for me I'm 37 and have average skin. Good luck, check the Freebie thread there are often samples of different products that way you could make your own informed comparisons.

I invest in higher end face products - I figure I can go cheap on other places but my face needs to last awhile! =) I have tried to use drugstore stuff and none of it did the trick. I struggle with really dry skin and uneven tone.

IMO there is no perfect skincare line out there - I sought the recommendation of a friend who is a licensed esthetologist. I use this http://www.kiehls.com/_us/_en/face/moisturizers/ultra-facial-cream.htm - I've used it daily for 3 months and am only a quarter of the way through the jar. For the money, it goes a long way and is amazing!

I use this face cleaner http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P12978&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=4171 (again, a little goes a long way) and this exfoliator http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P122661&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=1254

Origins stuff is good, too, and moderately priced. They are very helpful if you go into one of their stores and will let you try a bunch of stuff before commiting. I bought Kiehls at Neiman Marcus and the other two products at Sephora when I had a coupon.

Good luck in your search!

Hello! I use plain old Extra Virgin Olive Oil :lovestruc

I'm probably in the minority here but I do not spend a lot of money on my facial care products.

I wash each night with Dove Nutrium bar soap (gasp!) it doesn't dry out my skin at all. Some times I use a Norwex body cloth for my face but it is kinda like exfoliating and I get red if I use it every day.

For moisturizer I use Dove facial moisturizer from Target. I use it every night right after I wash.
I do not wear makeup everyday, but my foundation is Covergirl tinted moisturizer with SPF. It gives me a little moisture, a little coverage, and a little sunscreen.

I've tried the Marykay line and liked it but I haven't bought it lately. Maybe when I am 50 I will regret not using expensive stuff but for now I am happy with what I use.

I use vaseline as a mask/night cream. Not kidding. And I look ten years younger than my age - but I think that has more to do with good genes than anything I stick on my face.

During the day I use either Olay or Neutrogena with a sunscreen.

I use Lacura from Aldi's, but only in the winter, as that is the only time my skin is dry (when I lived in FL, I didn't use anything as the humidity was enough). I like the Lacura as it doesn't feel heavy on my skin. I wash my face with baby shampoo (cheap and delicate on skin, plus if it gets in my eyes it doesn't hurt:thumbsup2).

During the day, I use one from Neutrogena that is oil-free and for sensitive skin - love it! At night I used moisturizer from Clinique's Acne line where I have acne and I also use the Neutrogena on the other spots on my face. (I used to Clinique's acne line during the day along with the other two products in the line, but that, and the weather irritated my skin a lot. So now I have to use them at night in a temperature-controlled environment.)

I've used the Mary Kay line for more than ten years, and I won't use anything else. It's inexpensive, it works better than anything I've ever tried, and it comes with a money back guarantee. I highly recommend it, and you can "try before you buy."

I use the original Oil of Olay with SPF day and night. I should step it up to one of their regenerist products at night.

Aveeno! I love it, and I buy it at Target! I use Aveeno Positively Ageless daily cleansing pads. For day wear I use Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer and Positively Ageless Lifting and Firming Eye Cream. For night I use Positively Ageless Night Cream and Positively Ageless Eye Serum. All over I use Creamy Oil Moisturizing Lotion. I have very sensitive skin with eczema. As an aside, I wear very expensive make up that is custom blended to match my skin (very fair skin) the last time I had my make up done the lady said "I can tell you use our products, your skin is beautiful." She looked like she ate a lemon when I told her it was Aveeno!

My plastic surgeons office recommends some ridiculously expensive pumpkin based stuff, but I think the Aveeno works better.
