I have been using Principal Secret Advanced Cleanser from QVC for several years, and I really like it, but it's getting to be too expensive. I like it because it's a make-up remover also, and it doesn't burn your eyes. Can anyone recommend something similar that isn't too expensive?

I've never used that product so I don't really know what would be similar. I LOVE Philosophy products. I use Purity Made Simple at night to get my makeup off, and then I use their Micro-Exfoliating Scrub in the morning. The Purity Made Simple is very very mild and wouldn't burn your eyes, it also gets makeup off well. I just bought 32oz sizes at Sephora...they're out for a limited time and a much better deal than the smaller sizes.

I've never used that product either but I have tried many facial cleansers. I have used the Philosophy Purity Made Simple cleaner like the previous poster, but it didn't work that great with my skin (which is odd because most Philosophy products are awesome). I switched to Cetaphil. I've used both their Daily cleanser and Gentle cleanser and like both. We use the Gentle version since DH's got more sensitive skin. You can print a coupon for $2 off on their website.

I can't even tell you off hand what my cleanser is, it's a gel like pump soap. Maybe Clearasil? But I have been using baby oil to take off my waterproof mascara for over 30 years. I wear some pretty stubborn mascara at times. Covergirl Marathon is very difficult to remove. A little baby oil on my finger and rubbing gently-remove with tissue-is the only thing that could take that off. I have tried regular make up removers and nothing else worked.

I was hoping to find something I could just pick up locally and not have to order. I don't know if something from the drug store or Walmart would be too much to hope for? :confused3

My dermatologist recommends Cetaphil, and I've been using it for years. It's very gentle & doesn't sting my eyes. CVS makes their own version as well.

It's so hard to find new products I like....good luck! :)

I have pretty sensitive skin, and have used the Purity, but also use Olay Sensitive facial cleanser or Cetaphil. Both of these can be picked up at the local stores.

I have been using a Garnier Nutritioniste cleanser I pick up at CVS. I find it works well and is reasonably priced, especially since you can stock up when there are sales or ECB's. And I can generally find a coupon when I need one. I don't know how it would be at removing makeup since I don't wear any (something that has undoubtedly saved me thousand of dollars and lots of time over the years). But my daughter first removes her makeup using CVS or Almay make up remover and finds that works very well.

I got a sample for lush aqua marina and I love it its not harsh but it does exfoliate. I've since purchased it twice and my skin hasn't been clearer.

well, since we are on the budget board, i will tell you what i just started trying 6 days ago...and LOVE it....extra virgin olive oil...use a quarter size amount and rub your hands, massage in, take a hot,hot washcloth and put on your face and let it soak it, repeat, wash off, then wash with cold water...twice i have done a scrub with olive oil/brown sugar...I read a lot about before i was brave enough to try, and i already had a compliment on my skin...i am trying harder and harder to get away from all the chemicals we use in our house and on us, so thought i would try the much more natural olive oil, and i am so glad i did...do a google search if you unsure...it is pretty amazing!

I use the Olay sensitive foaming face wash as well, and have for quite a while. It gets all my makeup off very well unless it is waterproof, which I rarely wear - that pretty much requires some kind of oil-based product. I could not use Cetaphil, it made my rosacea flare.

OP - Here's a link to Paula Begoun's report "Recession Proof Beauty":

I don't agree with her reviews all of the time, but she has very good advice generally.

I LOVE H20 plus!!! It's the same line that disney uses at their resorts. I have used it for over 5 years now, and won't use anything else!!! All their products are made from sea products ie. seaweed, alge, etc. and green tea is in most of their products.

I also use Purity Made Simple - love it !
It is mild and effective. I use the 32 oz size also from QVC
it was a TS and Free shipping on Auto Plan.

:cool1:

I like Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean. It's all-natural and you can get a 32 oz refill bottle from the Vitamin Shoppe for about $12. My skin feels clean, but not stripped and tight the way it did with Olay Foaming Face Wash which I used for years.

I am a big fan of Aveeno products. I am a beauty nut, so I've tried a lot of the more expensive brands and nothing works as well for me. I use Positively Radiant and Ultra Calming Cream depending on the season/needs of my skin. Not trying to be braggy, but I do get complimented on my skin often and I honestly attribute that to using gentle products, mixing it up, and moisturizing. You should not use the same cleanser all the time because your skin's needs are constantly changing.

Is that a sephora product? (Asking based solely on the fact that you said it was a sample.)

I use Neutrogena Foaming cleanser - it comes in a light pump blue bottle (Target makes a generic too.) It removes make-up too - even eye make up without a lot of rubbing. Sometimes in the winter I switch to the gentle version, but it's not quite as good on eye-make up.

i thought i would pipe in about a new gadget that i am using that's done wonders for my skin. it's called clairsonic, and it's the same principal as the sonic care toothbrush, just for your face. you can use any cream or gel cleanser (basically anything without scrubbing beads). it was pricey (i got it on sale for $160), but it absolutely has cleared out all the junk from my pores, provides for great daily exfoliation, and all of my moisturizer gets absorbed instead of just sitting on top of my skin. this might not seem budget, but the way it's working out for me, i am spending less money on expensive creams, treatments and dermatologist prescriptions.

I use the generic cetaphil from Walgreens as an eye make-up remover (I put it on a cotton pad)...and then cleanse with St. Ives Olive oil cleanser. The cetaphil does not seem to remove all my face make-up and my face does not seem clean enough....I also use Purpose moisturizer each evening with a drop of Tea Tree Oil added....I have acne prone skin and this has helped alot.
