I love the scent of the fabric softener I use for laundry. Has anyone diluted it and used it for cleaning tile and hardwood floors, for wiping down the kitchen and bathroom, and wiping down leather furniture? I'd love for my whole house to smell like this softener!

When my little brother first got his own place, my family would always walk in and marvel at how wonderful it smelled (not at all how we remembered his room at home smelling ;)). His secret? Not cleaning that's for sure!!!
It turns out he liked febreeze, but couldn't afford to buy it, so he was mixing liquid fabric softner and water in a squirt bottle, and he would just basically douse the apt. on a daily basis. :lmao: We called it Fe-brose. (bros as in brothers)
I'm not sure if Fe-brose is something you would want to duplicate...but dang! His carpet sure was soft. :)

I would think that using fabric softener to clean with would leave a sticky mess all over. I think a better idea would be to put some into little jars around the house, maybe some babyfood jars with small holes poked in the top?

Febreze?

They make many different scents now, and there are other brands like Febreze that do the same thing.

Yankee candle makes a DELIGHTFUL candle in Clean Laundry and Fresh Linen that I adore.

I'd never use fabric softener as a cleaner because, well, it ISN'T a cleaner and won't likely clean anything. It will probably leave a residue on everything.

Apparently you can use the fabric softener sheets on wood furniture to repel dust, that would make your house smell.

My parents used to put them in the heating/cooling vents. I think you would want to cut strips or holes so the air can flow but it certainly does spread the fragrance thru the house.

We are allergic here! I have not used a fabric sheet or any fabric softner in over 10yrs.

Your homes would give me and my family a raging migraine.

I had a friend who would always suck one of the dryer sheets up into the vacuum every time she changed the bag so that the air that would blow out the back would smell nice whenever she vacuumed.

for years I have kept a spray bottle of water with a touch of fabic softener. I use just a spritz of it if I need to freshen up the house or last minute if company is coming. I just put a small spritz on the rug by the front door, on the towels hanging in the bathroom, etc. Not enough to soak or damage anything. I also do this now and then in my car and put a sheet of fabric softener in our suitcases before I store them after use and hang a sheet over a hanger in our closets. Love the stuff, and I do look for candles that smell like it too. Always get compliments on how my house smells so it must be working!
I do agree that I don't think I would "clean" with it. It is sticky and would leave a residue, and wouldn't "clean".

just watch it on the hardwood floors, I do this in my sons closet BUT the floors get REALLY slippery when its wet. I'm not afraid of them getting ruined or anything since they need to be stripped, sanded and restained anyway. Plus it makes his closet smell good and not boy like ;)
