you would also owe a $95 booking fee for trading out of the DVC resorts - and then you just have to weigh spending 41+ pts per night for a hotel room rather than 10-15 pts per night for a DVC studio.
back before BLT - when there was no fee to trade out to the disney collection - it might have been worth a look to pay a premium to get access to the monorail resorts...but it's become an even worse deal over the last few years.
We did it back in 2000 - we used a lot of points to stay at Poly witha lagoon view for 10 nights! It wasn't the best use of points but we were never going to pay the rack rates at that time. It was one of our best vacations yet! If I had to use points or lose them thn I would do it again.
Note that the points to stay at the Poly at that time were not as high as today!
I can only dream of the Villas at Disney's Polynesian Resort.. Think about it Disney all you have to do is put 7 studios in each long house .... Just saying
We used pts to stay at GF in 2006. We had booked a cruise using pts (our 1st mistake) then found out we were expecting baby#3 and the morning sickness was awlful (had none with the first two) and I could not imagine being on a boat like that-- I'm a little prone to seasickness anyhow. So the pts went into holding and had to be used at a resort. But we did get a nice upgrade to a tower suite room and had a wonderful time but also learned a couple valuable lessons as a newer member.
