Has anyone thought about the F&W and the wines you can buy by the bottle and the airline restrictions nowadays? Last year we took them onboard with us-don't think TSA would enjoy our humor if we told them the wine was for 'medicinal purposes'. Any ideas? I guess we can have them shipped home via UPS, etc but sure does add onto the cost of the wines.

Perhaps wrap the bottles up in towels or something and stow them with your check-in baggage?

I've done this a number of times on business trips. Just make sure the wine bottles are in the middle of the bag and it should be okay.

People on flyertalk report good success placing wine in styrofoam shipping packs in checked luggage. If you can get the shipping packs before you go, you won't have to worry about finding them at WDW, but they may be available from Disney.

I have wrapped wine in clothes in checked bags many times. I usually travel with my beloved down pillow, so I put it on the top inside my bag. Works great.

Wine bottles are rather sturdy bottles. They should make it home okay if they are well padded and placed in checked luggage. But when packing them, ask yourself what would happen if the luggage handlers throw your suitcase 20 feet, or drop it 10 feet, or plop a 70-pound hard-sided suitcase on top of it.

The wine for sale by the bottle at the F&W Festival is rather overpriced. If your state allows wine to be shipped in, you're probably better off writing down the wines that you like, and ordering them over the web when you get home.

Just don't expect your resort to ship them for you, they won't ship alcohol.

We found that out the hard way after last years visit to F&W. When our package from the Beach Club arrived home it included all of our souvenirs except the most important ones - the Inniskillin icewines. Turns out they have a special shelf for all the stuff they're given but aren't allowed to ship and that's where they ended up (maybe they need a checklist to give people at drop-off). Anyway, our bottles were waiting for us when we visited in June and, like Doc suggested, we pretty much took care of 'em on the spot.

If you work in an office or know someone who does, HP now pack their Printer cartridges in a bubble type wrap that is tubular. Place the bottles inside and then wrap in a towel. Then you make sure the bottle/s are dead centre of your luggage procected by everything else inside! :thumbsup2

Works Great!

Actually, have done it on several occasions ... I don't always use towels ... maybe some tshirts or something ... and I just put them in the middle of the bag ... has worked well every time. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Ooops ... I see the same advice has been given ... and you thought I was teasin' :)
