F&W / BCV or BWV?

Hi all,

Thinking of going to our first F&W for a weekend (adults only). Due to the proximity to Epcot Center, BCV or BWV would be the best bet. But my question is between BCV or BWV, which is better during this time of year? Are you able to walk to Epcot from both locations? Is one a closer walk than the other? Is October still warm enough to use the pools at BCV? I realize it's Florida, but we were just there last year in December and froze.:sad1:

They are both within reasonable walking distance to Epcot. BCV may be a little closer to the International Gateway. The weather in October is generally great and you will definitely be able to use the pool. I know what you mean about December . . . we were there 12/4 - 12/11 and never left the room without our winter coats!

The biggest issue that you may have is that if you are thinking about F&W this October, those two resorts are likely fully booked, especially on the weekends. We tried to get a 2BR for 4 nights right at the 7 month mark and everything was booked. Studios are probably scarce across the entire DVC collection for October WE's. You may want to call MS today to what is available, and if there is something for the weekend you are planning on traveling, you should book it now. You could always wait-list for BCV or BWV and you may be able to get something last minute. If you were to WL either, BWV is larger so your chances may be better for getting something there on a WL. Avoid Columbus Day weekend.

Have fun planning. F&W is a great event and I hope you are able to find something. We will be there in October, but we will be at our home at AKV for half the week and then BLT for the second half.

Both are easily walkable. The distance from BCV might be slightly shorter than from BWV, but not enough to worry. Either way its a 10 minute walk or less.

We prefer BCV for two real reasons, better parking and the availability of SAB; plus one intangible reason, we like the "feel" of the resort better.

distance to EPCOT for either resort is comparable - a short stroll :)
we find BCV much more noisy, geared to very little ones.
BWVs are more elegant, with lots of both quiet nooks and nightly fun activities on the BW itself. note that we own at both, and greatly prefer the BWVs.

as previously stated however, it is very unlikely you would be able to get a room at either resort for this october. not only are they booked solid, there are many, many people waitlisting since before the 7 month mark.

We'll be at BWV for the first week of Oct. Hope to see you there! Good luck!:goodvibes

BCV is very close to Epcot International gateway a slightly shorter walk than BWV. The weather in October is lovely and definately warm enough to use the pools. You will have a fabulous time staying at either of these resorts.

As others have said, if you are planning for this year, I don't think anything will be available for October. We own at BWV and we were not able to get all our nights at the nine month mark. I have been waitlisted since then, but no luck. All that was available for the remaining nights was SSR.

I suggest you call right away to see what is available. Enjoy your vacation.

You are talking about F&W in 2012, right? I'm gonna bet nothing is available at all for this year.

I prefer BCV. Never had a noise problem. Last time I had a preferred view at BWV I was amazed at how loud it was overlooking that pool.

I realize that there are no DVC resersation available for this upcoming F&W. But my wife is "splurging" a bit for my bday. So we will be paying rack rates for the weekend. I see there is availability in both, that is why I was looking for feedback on the experience from both resorts. I really appreciate all the feedback I have recieved. We are really looking forward to our trip.:thumbsup2

I believe there are discounts on DVC villas now. If it's just the two of you, a studio might be fine, although for a special trip a 1 br is especially nice! You could check out www.mousesavers.com for the specials.

I would go with BCV because of being so close to Epcot. Shorter than from the BWV and you don't have to climb the hill to get to the International Gateway (take the walkway under the bridge).

BCV- own at BWV - but BCV is definitely closer to Epcot.

believe me if you stay until closing - you will appreciate the short walk back to BCV.

remember with BCV you go under the bridge - with BWV you must walk over the bridge.

Can someone tell me where this walkway under the bridge starts. I don't remember ever seeing it. Where does it start on the BCV side?

Before you get to the bridge from the BC, right near the gate that you take to walk back to the BCV. Head to the right and you'll be walking under the bridge on the walkway right next to the water. On the Epcot side of the bridge, it starts just before you start going uphill. Go to the left, towards the water and you are on the walkway.

Epcot Map

Slide it to the right until you see the edge of the Beach Club resort and quiet pool.

Then Zoom in and you will see the pathway along the water canal and under the bridge.

It goes along the edge of the water canal and under the bridge coming from the Boardwalk.

1BR BCV is now booked. We skipped the DDP since I believe we'll be "munching" all-day at F&W so no need for a heavy dinner, I think!?! It's our first visit to F&W, so am I planning this correctly? I did make a dinner reservation at the Yatchsman Steakhouse for dinner one night. It holds special significance, so considering we'll be at BCV, I figured it was time for a return visit. Other than that I don't see the point of reserving dinner during our weekend stay. Still trying to figure out how this event works. Any suggestions? Any "must-dos"? Any favorites? Oh, and one more thing MNSSHP tickets are purchased :thumbsup2

My family plays "high road, low road" and it really isn't any faster! But fun.

We use the walkway not the hill, but once out of maybe 20 times using the walkway, we saw a huge black snake on the trash can that's under the bridge.
