to strengthen and thicken thin lashes, without the extension and all that?

It depends if you want them to grow in thicker and fuller or just want the cosmetic effect. For the latter, you can just use a lash primer.

Latisse is a great product. I really like the Obagi elastilash. There aren't any side effects, such as eye and skin discoloration. I use a bit in my brows too, I have a few sparse areas. It really helps with the length and thickness as well!

Apparently Smartlash available at Dermstore can help (according to the ad on this page, LOL).

Sorry, I have no idea.

I've used the generic of Latisse, CareProst (Bitmatoprost), for a couple years, and it really does make a big, huge difference. I order it from a pharmacy in India. The one problem with the stuff is, if you quit using it or run out, your lashes quickly go back to their old growth cycle and become all short and stubby again!

I've used Rapid Lash with pretty good results.

using this now for about a week. anyone have irritated eyes from this? :(

also, do you put mascara over this? no info on directions. ty

no irritation, I use it at night along my lash line so no mascara as well. I've had good results too. I probably had a bit of side effect where it darken the skin along my lash line, but it looked very natural, just like I used a light eyeliner so I consider it a benefit.

really, it darkened ths skin? not sure we're talking about same product. it's clear and gel like.

Another vote for Obagi Elastilash! Latisse can permanently discolor the iris, requires a prescription and is much more expensive.

Latisse is still on patent and will be until 2022. There is no generic Latisse. The product you describe above is for treatment of another condition and not packaged or marketed for the use you describe above. If you are comfortable using it for an off label indication for vanity purposes, than that's your prerogative, but please, folks don't take this as an acceptable practice.

I recommend anyone interested in using this drug be checked by a doctor to see if Latisse is appropriate for you and your eyes. It does have side effects. Even though you can readily acquire the product mentioned above from abroad, you should only decide to order it if you have a prescription from your own MD.

LOL... Bitmatoprost has been used for YEARS for eyelash growth... it's a happy side effect of this medication, used in the eye for glaucoma treatment. Many, many medications are used for "off label" reasons... Wellbutrin was used off-label as a smoking cessation medication way before it started being prescribed as Zyban specifically for that purpose.

It is patently - pun intended - ridiculous to have to get prescriptions for "vanity" medications at all... It only lines the pockets of people and companies whose pockets need no further lining.
