Eyebrow Raisers

The only thing that I don't understand why people raised their eyebrows is going to the door in the holding room at Test Track. Everybody else stands in the middle, but I go to the door... I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

I really must be missing something here.... What is the #6 Stuffing everything into the Mr. potatoehead box, I am confused

and if I am standing on the curb your children can sit right in front of me, next to me 2 year old. I will be watching their faces more than the parade anyway.....

This seems almost off topic now that everyone has focused on #4. But there are places that sell Mr. Potato Head pieces by the box. And you get as many pieces as you would like to or can possibly fit into the box. Depending on how creative or ridiculous you want to get, you can really stuff that box.

Well, I won't get into the parade thing as we never go to the parades.

The one eyebrow raising thing i ALWAYS do when we are in a preshow or "holding area" for a ride or attraction is to move forward in front of the doors. Everyone is ALWAYS asked to please move forward, so why do so many people just stop in the middle? If ya wanna do that, fine....but I'm passing you by and heading to the front. There are no single file lines in these rooms and if you stop half way back, then sorry 'bout ya. Now....if you DID move to the front and the doors open in such a manner that I could get in before you....I'll let you go ahead of me.

Otherwise, I don't really do any brow raising activities.:)

ITA with you. This is exactly what I was talking about. Why, in the name of Walt, would anyone stop in the middle of the room? I don't do the parks commando style, but time is important to me nonetheless. Besides. it absolutely drives me buggy to see a space up front and no one has filled it in. It just isn't natural:upsidedow . And no...I see nothing wrong with we're doing.

family of 5 came and kicked us on the street, so they could squeeze in; when i confronted her she said in no english. From

Oh that reminds me--well before the 3p MK parade there was a large curbside opening--a woman with a toddler in a stroller was a good 6 feet behind the curb under a tree or post or something. As my family approached the area she let us know in very broken English that her child needed shade and we could not stand up there because it would block her view!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Now THAT's territorial!

I don't understand it at Test Track or RnR, either. However, I will stop in the middle of the room or I'll hang near the back of the room at the shows. If you want to be first through the doors, be my guest. I'll wait and take my time--it's a strategy that pretty much always gets me the middle of a row every time.

Okay.....the only thing in this thread that raised my eyebrows is...

Disney is ALL and ONLY about kids????

Ummm WHAT!?! :confused3

To honestly sit there and say that? Really? It's all about kids?? If that was the case, then why go?? WDW is not a summer camp for kids only. And let's think, if it were about the kids only, then why sell adult sized items? Why does Disney have their own vineyard that makes the Fairytale Cuvee (a champagne)? Why do people, like myself and others on the wedding boards, choose to get married there? There are so many whys! WDW is a place for EVERYONE. That is why I got engaged and married at WDW. It's the place that makes ME and my DH happy. WDW is NOT all about the kids. I spend the majority of my paycheck for Disney related items because Disney makes ME and my DH (2 adults) HAPPY. No offense to anyone on here with kids but my DH has told me that he loves to see my face light up when I see Mickey and Stitch. When I see kids all excited to see Mickey or any other character, I am right there next to them just as excited.

As for the parade...

I am a HUGE fanatic for Lilo and Stitch. When I found out that they were in the Parade at the MGM. My DH and I sat and waited on the curb 2+ hours to see them. If some random little kids came up and asked me to move, let's think what my response would be...no. I LOVE Disney, I LOVE interacting with the characters, I take pics with them, I get autographs from them, I think this just goes back to the whole, Disney World is not all and only about kids…

Completely agree! Very well said.

I had to comment about your Pokemon Icons...I have 3 sons(7,9 and 10) and they are obsessed....its all they think or talk about. Its unfortunate that they kind of missed the whole Pokemon mania a few years back because none of their peers are really interested. They have thousands of cards, but noone to trade with but each other.

And to some of us, that's most of the fun!

popcorn:: :rolleyes1 popcorn::

Okay, I travel without kids, am not a parade person (Spectro is the perfect time to ride Peter Pan :rotfl: ), but I do stake out spots for Wishes and Illimunations.

I think what irks me is that because I travel without kids, I'm expected to take a second fiddle. This is even though I pay the same for my package, plane ticket, and everything else that goes with the vacay.

As for the Mr. Potato Head, I've practiced, I can pack the box in under 10 minutes. Maybe I have too much free time on my hands.

Oh my gosh! Mine are obsessed too and when they get going on Pokemon, it's like they are speaking an entirely different language. Honestly, they know the names of all 486 or however many there are now! :rotfl:

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT #6 is ??????????? I don't get it... for the third time what is stuffing all of the stuff in a mr potatoehead box, I feel so stupid but I don't get it!

I believe that there is a store in DTD that sells all kinds of Mr. Potato Head parts. And there must be a set price for as many as you pick and fit into this box. I hope that helps! I have never purchased this but have seen it as we walked by.

I agree with you.

I always try to act with kindness. Not everyone knows to "stake" out a spot for the parade. I for one will always try and put someone littler than me in front. It's what I taught my children (now adults) and I'm proud to say they give up their seats on trains and buses, they hold doors open, they generally act in the world with great thoughtfulness and I am extremely proud of them!

I'm proud of my children, too. They also were taught to act in the world with great thoughtfulness, and they would give up a seat on a train or a bus and hold a door open. Those are common courtesies that I think almost all of our children, and all of us, would be willing to perform if needed.

But parade seating isn't just a common courtesy - it's the same as seating in any show at WDW. Those who want to get the best seats have to be there early. And they shouldn't be penalized or made to feel that they are stealing candy from babies by refusing to allow latecomers to mow over them.

Wow, Schmeck. How's the psychotherpy going for the paranoia???

I never let my kids out of my site and I think I'm very protective, but....do you have your kids on one of those leashes??:sad2:

Sorry, but I agree with Schmeck, and no I don't have my kids on a lease. When you're in a situation with thousands and thousands of people, anything can happen in a split second. AND you never know what kind of weirdo is around....have you seen any of the news stories? There actually are some sick people who go to Disney looking for kids. Yes, its rare, but why take any chances.

(italics and bold mine)

I'm not advocating being a doormat...if people are pushy or rude that's an entirely different story. But as a rule...I am inclusive and I'll try to scoot so so one else can fit in.

Okay, I neglected to say that I would never and have never done this without asking first. However, I have my kids ask, which is a little underhanded I guess, because it's a lot tougher to say no to a kid.

But honestly, it's about the kids isn't it. If you were going to stand and watch the parade, would you mind if a couple of kids, who would otherwise have their views almost completely blocked, sat in front of you. I'd bet it would actually make you feel pretty good that those kids enjoyed the parade and got to interact with the characters.

Wait a second are you sure "not everyone is enamored of my kids".
It is not necessarily "all about the kids". I don't hate children by any means, but my vacation is just as valuable as theirs.

That's not really the point here. The point is the OP just expects other people to accomodate her children whenever they feel like it.

I have often invited other people's children to stand in front of me for a better view. That's the key word...invited. Not guilted or harassed into it by a parent who thinks the world revolves around them and their children.

:thanks:

I see where you are coming from and I have done a few "eyebrow raising things" on my trips to WDW too. They are...........

1. As an adult sit on the tiny stone wall in front of the stage.

2. Walk right in front of the doors on Dinosaur and Rock n Rollercoaster even if there is only one inch of space in between the door and the family that is already standing there.

3. Move into the row on the theater shows and then stand on the chair and let people go ahead of me so that the family that made me move around them at the beginning of the row now has to sit at the end.

4. Move in front of the children standing near the curb at parades and sit down on the curb in front of them saying I hope you don't mind....it's easier for a child to say " it's ok...then an adult".

5. Say at the top of my voice..."I didn't know you could use refillable mugs from another resort here!"

6. Use my pockets if everything doesn't fit into the Mr. PotatoeHead box.

I'm sorry I just had to.........:lmao:

That was the perfect response. Well played! LOL!!!

I was pretty floored that the things the OP does. The more I read the more it struck me that he or she is a pretty inconsiderate DISer. I need to go read the post again, hoping they aren't going to be there mid-September 2007.
