Extremely Short Hotel Stay

I am arriving at MCO after 10:30pm on Thursday, October 10th. I am booked at the Grand Floridian for a week but not starting until Friday, October 11th. With such a late flight, I will not check in a hotel until around midnight.

We plan to checkout early to spend the day in Tampa. Does anyone know of a hotel giving a discount for only needing a room for less than 8 hours?

Also, looking for a decent hotel that can bed a family of 5 (three adults and two tweens).

Ya your gonna have a hard time finding a room that will fit all those peeps.
I'd go with Comfort inn suites airport. You can fit everyone in that room!
2 queens and couch as well as free breakfast for 89.99.... cant beat that!

Let me make sure I understand this. You're arriving at 10:30P, then going to Tampa the next morning and checking in sometime that same day at the Grand Floridian? Sounds exhausting! Unless you have a very short flight from home, this doesn't seem like a good plan.

I'd either go straight from the airport to Tampa (easy driving that time of night and you can sleep late) and stay in Tampa two nights or just forget Tampa until maybe the middle of the week and go straight to the Grand Floridian from the airport.

If you do decide to take a cheaper airport hotel the first night, sleep as late as you feel like and then go straight to the Grand Floridian. If you don't want a park day you can relax at the pool or Downtown Disney. Have a nice relaxed late lunch / early dinner and be rested up for the next day's park visit.

Even beyond the complicated logistics of spending the first day in Tampa, is there a plan for the possibility that it will be raining that day? Unless you're going to visit museums or something, a rainy day in Tampa might not be a good way to start the trip. If you are going for the beach, do it mid-week on the day with the best weather forecast. If you're visiting relatives or something, your plan may be OK.
