Extremely happy with SW customer service right now

We use SW for most of our flights. We've always been happy with their service & today was no exception.

I recently received a "Companion Pass" meaning that for the next 12 months a companion can fly free with me on the same flight. I named DH.

We already have 2 flights currently booked. Even if I were to cancel these flights, as of January 28 his travel funds could only be used in his name. We always fly together so either the funds or the companion pass would go unused.

I called SW's regular # & they gave me a customer service #. They told me the way around this would be to cancel his flights, rebook them with the companion pass, book a dummy flight for myself using his funds. After I apply his funds to my flight they then become my funds. I then had to cancel the dummy flights & those travel funds are now in my account. I can now use the travel funds for myself & use the companion pass for his flights!

I also have 2 Award tickets in my account. Looks like we'll be able to enjoy our DVC & condo a lot this coming year!!!

I was very happy with SW customer service this evening.

Hi MELSMICE: Can you clarify how you were able to book a flight for yourself using his funds? I thought the new policy was the funds had to be used toward travel for only the person who first purchased them.

They do now, but I was able to do this before the new policy took effect. I think it did it a week before.

I booked my "dummy" flight with his funds. Once those funds were used for a flight in my name they became my funds. When I cancelled my flight they funds were in my name & I can now use them for a future flight.

Unfortunately, once the policy changed on January 28 this was unable to be done anymore.
