Extreme Jenga?!? - Strange things people do

We always put our hands up. That's part of the fun. Good for your parents, OP, for having a great time!

OTOH- the Jenga thing bothers me somewhat. I guess that a wooden piece falling in front of the log may not mess up Splash too much, but I can only imagine the damage that could be done if one of those pieces fell onto the track of one of the other coasters.

Sorry, I never stick my hands up and block the view of the people behind me.

Really? I have been behind people with arms up, and never even thought about it blocking my view! We put our arms up on so many rides on our last trip (Disney, Universal, Seaworld, Busch Gardens), that my kids even put their arms up when our Southwest flight was taking off to go home!! :lmao::rotfl2::rolleyes1

:rotfl2:
We sometimes do it in the car going down big hills--especially the curvy hills--weeeeeeeeeeee :rotfl:

OK, back on topic. Gotta go check out that link...

Sometimes if the person in front of me had their hands up in the pictures I'll think for a second, "Aw, you can't see my face....oh well." NEVER would I think to be mad at the person who "blocked" me. They were having fun. Not their fault, just one of those things that stinks.

I have never heard someone actually comment about putting hands up on a ride being rude before.

The pieces are glued together....they aren't really "playing" Jenga.:thumbsup2

I have no problem with them playing a game on the ride. I do not like that your parents put their arms up blocking the faces of the riders behind them.

I think that is rude. Now the people behind won't purchase the photo that they may have if their faces weren't blocked.

If I managed to get my niece to ride a ride that had photos taken during it and someone blocked her face I would be very annoyed as she probably wouldn't ride it again for me to get another one with her face, not to mention it wouldn't be the same as a first ride photo.

Wow is all I can say to that....just.....WOW!!

I know I should feed a troll but.......I would guess a lot of people don't even realize there is a photo being taken or where that photo will be taken at during the ride. On top of that don't you think your memories of your niece's first ride would be better to have than of you getting trying to make everything perfect for a picture that you have to pay way too much for? And what happens if your niece LOVED the ride and put her arms up in excitement? Would you scold her for blocking the face of a kid behind her? Don't you think that would discourage her from riding again more than the ride itself would.

I can just imagine....."Now little Suzie.....we need to keep our arms holding nicely in our laps and not get too excited. I know your at Disney World, but it's not about having fun or showing excitement, it's about making sure little Johnny behind you has his precious little face showing on the off chance his parents want to buy an overpriced photo since he's now scarred for life and won't ride again."

FWIW, it was another poster who posted this picture, not the OP. I don't think those are really her parents. I'm guessing it's a (possibly photoshopped) picture the poster pulled off a website somewhere.

As for the arms up in air thing....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
What are you expecting, Christmas-card picture quality?:rolleyes1

I learn so much from the DIS, particularly how easily people are annoyed or offended. Reason #201 to be annoyed - people putting their hands up on a thrill ride, something that has been done since people started riding thrill rides.

Make sure to prints those rules and take them with you :lmao:
Read them carefully before a ride, dinner, parking your car, using the bathrooms or entering a restaurant.
Even better start a `Free printed rule swap`:rotfl:

The coaster pics on the link are so cool!

As for the arms thing, there was one time when we rode Splash and put our arms up, I noticed in the picture we blocked the people behind us. I wouldn't have thought anything about it except that it was a little boy and (I'm assuming) his grandfather. I felt really bad about it (that old Catholic guilt, I guess). So now, sometimes we do, sometimes we don't. Depends on where we're sitting. We're more about making funny/scared faces for the pictures. To each their own, though.

If you really want the picture, wait until you can be seated in the front. You can't expect other people to tone down their fun in case someone is posing. OP-love the picture and your parents look like fun people!

This is the reason we ask for the front row on rides like splash, then if we choose to get the picture it's just us front and center. If it's a first ride and the picture was important that what you would have to think through before getting onto the ride.

Not as rude as when my wife and I block your faces simultaneously with our nursing infant and last year's refillable resort cup!

Why not just tell the CM you want to sit in the front row? We ask for certain seats/rows on many rides. I've never had a CM turn us down. We've had a few roll their eyes at our request, but we don't care.

I do it on purpose, especially if they look like they might be annoyed by it......:surfweb:

You don't have to be a spam bot or someone new fishing for trouble to stir up trouble. I meant it more in the way of I shouldn't pander to anyone who's going to say crazy things just to get a reaction out of people. She had to know that whether she really believes what she ways or not that nearly everyone here would disagree and perhaps should have kept that one to herself. My "troll" comment was more in the way of I shouldn't argue with someone who is looking for an argument, but I couldn't resist.

You forgot "while holding an electronic cigarette" :rotfl:

DH and I have done that before except we did it with Chess Pieces so I know this photo is not shopped in anyway. They just glued the Jenga pieces together and left a few unglued to hold in their hands to make it seem like they are in the middle of a game.

Oh and I never hold my arms in the air, not because I think it's impolite...more because I don't like feeling out of control during rides.

Why don't you just admit that you're scared :scared1: to put your hands up? It's the one thing you can do to enhance the ride (other than playing Jenga) and you would deny us that? :sad2: Nope, I don't think so. When I go down, hands go up! :upsidedow
