I am from Mississippi originally. I have been down to Biloxi plenty of times and this really touched my heart. I cried!!! There is a building down there that i am wondering about. It is the SOuthern Baptist convention center... does anyone know if it is still standing or how much damage it got!!!
I so wanted to watch this last night. We turned it on and within 5 minutes they showed where our house used to be. *Used* to be. It's just an empty lot now. Even though we moved 18 months before the hurricane it was just too painful to watch. We had to change the channel.
Actually, considering what has happened, I thought it was very uplifting. The way they rebuilt that clinic with all the letters on the wall, and then how they delivered washers and dryers to the trailer park, when that lady was just asking about new sheets, it was amazing. But, yeah, you're right, there is so much to do yet. In some areas, it looks like the storm happened yesterday.
South Mississippians have been so strong troughout this tragedy. I'm proud to have been a part of the coast.
Just wanted to clarify-the show itself was uplifting, it's the entire situation along the coast that is so sad. Too bad 10,000 crews of Extreme Home Makeover can't make the trip, it would get cleaned up and looking better than ever.
It was so sad. My husband said it was a two box of klenex night for me. Being from the New Orleans area and seeing all the damage first hand (we lost our home) it means so much to see that people care. What a wonderful thing ABC and Home Makeover did for that community. God Bless them.
