Extreme Coupons: TV Show Draws Extreme Backlash

I'm just wondering the timing on everything. How do they plan to have all those qs that are valid and hit them with sales at just the right time? Especially with not knowing what will be on sale when the filming occurs? Violating the store's policy to get camera time is frustrating when it has caused this backlash!!!

When my pantry/freezer is full, it is time for me to stop shopping and start using all of it! That is what I am doing for the next two weeks and we will eat great and all I need to do is buy a few perishables. There are a few things that we don't care for after it has been frozen, so I don't buy ahead. Those extra grocery dollars will go to our vacation fund!

That's how it usually works actually. A company will choose to spend a lot of advertising dollars on a particular product. They'll run commercials, print ads, coupons and then give their suppliers (stores) a deal on the product, making the price you pay less than the normal price. There's almost always some "big" deal going on.

Right, but I'm talking about them having just the right coupons for just the right items on sale for the week they are filming! I totally get matching up coupons with sales as that is how I shop, expecially for pantry items and health/beauty aids. I just don't think that it would be the norm to hit that kind of jackpot and wonder if there isn't some sort of concession of the store manager on sales prices (maybe giving them the lowest price in the past month to match up with their coupons).

I wonder if they are getting advanced copies of the sales fliers. I know they are available at least several days in advance. It's possible the producers of the show can get them copies even earlier. That would make it easier to get a big haul, especially if they are ordering from clipping services.

I know the CVS, Walgreen, and Rite Aid ads are available several days before they actually go on sale. I think it might be Wednesday when the coupon bloggers post the matchups. I would imagine that chain grocery stores would also have these ads available early.

Yeah, the blogs that I follow always have the grocery matchups done two or more days before the ad comes out.

Wow, I have watched the show a couple of times, but all I see is another show about hoarding, weird that the stores didn't realize this was going on before the show aired.

I wish for 1 time they would show a real coupon -er shopping with a normal amount of coupons. No more than 5 or 6 six coupons per item. Not thousands. I can understand people getting a few extra but not more than they can use in a few months. Sure I get extra coupons. I get them from my neighbors (2-3) and my Mother-in-law. I usually have no more than six copies of any 1 coupon. Yes I like to get a deal too and share what I get. But to have rooms full of things that no one will ever use. That is ridiculous unless you are going to give it to a children's home or shelter, something of that nature. Come on show us normal coupon shopping. PLEASE!

Really, I think these extreme couponers either have a problem (similar to hoarding) or they do it just to get on the TV shows. They have far more stuff than they will ever use and just keep buying because they can get the deal. On one show the lady bought 100 bags of dog food. If you use one bag a month that's over 8 years worth, the food could conceivably outlast the dog!
Also about them breakling the rules, this lady said if she is going to buy large quantities of something, she will usually call ahead and the store has it basically ready for her. So in that case, they would not do it if it was not withinn their coupon rules.
