Does anyone know if DVC members get any extras added to the Standard package? Do they get bumped up to the next category or anything? This is our first cruise and we didn't know.

Thanks, Joni:wave:

We get a nice "get together" and there's a cutesy contest with DVC merchandise (coasters, cups, visors).

There is a DVC point discount if you book your cruise within 3 days of completing your cruise - you have to get the point chart and code from either the DVC representative or the DCL booking representative.

It's always nice to meet other DVC'er's and put faces to user names!

Thanks Rae!!! Does the info come with your Documents that tells you about the party and all? Joni

Hmmm, we just sailed (on points) and had no idea about this!
Is it ONLY if you sail on points, or is it open to DVC'ers sailing on cash too?
Thanks

Oh, where are my manners?!@

First off, Hi Joni and welcome to both the Disboards and the DCL thread!!!!! I swear there are times when I wonder how I ever made it to adulthood, you'd think I was raised by the wolves!!!

You will get a nice little invitation in your room plus there is a notice in the Navigator that is delivered to your door every evening pertaining to the next day's events. (Or just ask the person sitting at the DVC desk!)

Often there is free alcoholic beverages at the DVC party, and always non-alcoholic ones. Last time we were given three small plates with appetizers (veggies, fruit, crackers).

After your first cruise, you become Castaway Club members and on your second cruise you will get a gift (a nice towel and in the past, a great carryon bag) and two Castaway Club pins of Steamboat Willie AND an invitation to the Castaway Club party where the ship's officers meet and greet you while you have a very nice buffet and drinks again.

I couldn't tell you what kind of drinks are served - the non-alcoholic ones are a fruit punch that is very good though!

Again, forgive my lack of manners and welcome to you and yours!

Rae

We were told that DVC is DVC regardless of points or cash paid - we are using our points to cruise this August and October, but have used cash other times.

Party is still the party though!!!!

Rae

AH, thanks! Is this only on the 7 day? We were on the 4 day. :)

Okay, now you've stumped me- I know we do it on the 7 nighter but don't think so on the 3 and 4's - at least I can't remember us going to them on the two we did.

Rae

I don't even remember seeing a DVC desk on the 4 day. You'd think it's be sitting out somewhere prominent if it was there.
I'll bet it's only on the 7 day.
Guess I'll have to wait until next May. :)

I should be able to tell you exactly where it is - it's Mid ship on either Deck 4 or 5. Okay, my mind is a blank.....can I blame that on my age or being on the computer too long today?!

But it is visible so it's probably not on the 3 and 4 nighters!

Rae

There is nothing with DVC on the 3day or 4 day cruise. Only on the 7 day cruise. :(

The DVC desk is only on the 7 day, not the 3&4 day cruises.

Also you will get an invitation in your room only if you booked on points. On our May 10th cruise DVC'ers cruising on points also got lanyards waiting in their rooms with a holder and card like we had on the Member Cruise.

For those of you DVC'ers not cruising on points - don't worry you can still come to the party. It is in the Navigator or don't hesitate to ask at the DVC desk (which is located up on deck 4 in the atrium. Everyone who came to the party got DVC member baseball hats and the chance to win prizes of bags, beach towels, and t-shirts. We were on the Western and our party was at 10am as we were heading into Key West. They had juice, coffee, tea, muffins, sweet rolls etc. available.

There is also two information sessions for non members. The DVC reps like members to show up and talk about their experience (makes selling easier as we DVC members love to talk about DVC). A chance to win some small prizes and they do a door prize drawing for both a DVC member and non DVC member.

Oh and as for those lanyards - we just stopped by the DVC desk later in the cruise and they were happy to give us a set.

On the May 17th cruise, the DVC desk was set up on deck 5 (the same as the Club/Lab). We were given lanyards with our invitation and then got the caps at the get together. While only 2 lanyards were included with the invitation, we were able to get 3 more for the kids. We also got a cap for everyone.

Thanks everyone for all your replys. That helps out alot. We ARE going on the 7 day and we also DID use points, so we should be good to go!!!! I am so excited I wish we could go today!!!! :sunny:
Is it, the more cruises you take the more things they give you or do you get all that the first time?

Joni

This was our first Disney cruise (and we used points). At the get together (where they had lots of giveaways, we just weren't one of the lucky ones), they said they had luggage tags available, but I always forgot to ask when I saw her.

I wore my lanyard and put my KTTW and any receipts in it. It broke before the end of the cruise, but she replaced it.

The caps are nice too, with "member" embroidered on the back. They want you to wear your lanyards and caps to get other passangers interested.

Has anyone who cruised on points able to get the Disney Club $50 onboard credit added to their ressie??

I figured I'd ask here before I call DVC. They said they couldn't use the BBO code- $100 credit, even though we got the post card from a resort stay~ because the ressie wasn't cash - it's points...

Just wondering if it was the CM I talked to when I booked, or if this is standard fare?

When booking thru DVC, so far no codes will work :(. It doesn't hurt to try though!

Thanks everyone for all your imput. It has helped alot!! I called yesterday to DVC and asked if we could get any discounts(such as the BBO $100.00 or the $50.00 and the guy said that we could NOT get any of these when we use or points. He said they don't offer very many specials except in the Fall. Has anyone else herd this?
Joni

In 2000 & 2001, they had a great fall special with reduced points & onboard credit. In 2002, the only DVC special they ran was reduced points for Sept. I'm hoping they'll offer something this fall.

Too bad about the codes!
