Just found out youngest DS has at least two. I'm afraid to read too much on the internet. Too much extra to worry about will come up. Has anyone got any experience with these? How were they treated?

My son did, and honestly, it wasn't that big of deal. He got one front and both canines in before the other front. Then when that last front one came in, it was really really slow and finally broke the skin and was wider than the others. As it grew in, we could see it was two teeth together (sort of fused but with a crease down the middle). When it came out before the permanents came it, it popped apart and I saved the two pieces (well, the tooth fairy saved all the teeth actually ;) ). He had no other extras.

Originally the dentist said he need to be watched since there was increased liklihood for more extras but he didn't get any more.

Nothing for me to do about it; mother nature took care of it w/no pain or problems, but it was sure cute at the time.

I had 3 extra (2 visible behind my front teeth, kind of in the roof of my mouth...the other one was not through the gum, was seen on xray, and was fully upside down. They made that one a case for research).

They removed mine surgically, since they were taking out the upside down one anyway and teeth on the roof of the mouth impede the tongue for speech.

My ds also had 2. We noticed when a front tooth fell out and 2 new front teeth tried to squeeze in there. Caught it really quickly, actually. They said there was another front tooth under those 2, so pulled them both surgically (under anesthesia). Lo and behold, a front tooth grew in!

My youngest dd had a tooth that was nearly 2 teeth. It was 2 teeth fused. Since it was a baby tooth, they just let her keep her extra-wide tooth. It fell out last year.

As you can see, this runs in my family, lol. Although 2 members of my family were missing 2 teeth (the ones on either side of the top 2 front teeth). They just live with it, and nobody ever even notices.

DS' teeth are not full teeth or at least they don't look that way on the x-ray. According to the dentist they appear to be blocking his permanent teeth from coming in. We are going for a consultation with an orthodontist tomorrow (on recommendation of the dentist). I'm wondering maybe though if we should be seeing an oral surgeon.
