Just out of curiosity, how many of you tip extra? This is our first time on the DDP and just wondering what the general consensus of this topic is. TIA! :)

We tipped extra at Chef Mickey's, 50's PrimeTime and Crystal Palace. We did so for a variety of reasons. Really good service, we had a very messy infant and at 50's Prime Time our ordering was very complicated.

We tipped extra at pretty much every meal - like the previous poster, we have small children and felt like we needed to make up for some of the mess (though we always were under the table picking up as much as we could ourselves).

Sometimes we probably tipped too much - especially at Kona and WCC when our servers were giving my daughter the 3rd degree about her age "and how old are you princess?" DD "I'm 2 (holding up 2 fingers smooshed together)" CM "how old?? 3? (trying to trip up my little girl like we were lying about her age)" DD "NO - 2!!" DD will be 3 on the 23rd, so she pretty much looks 3 (let's face it, she pretty much is 3! but still 2 until the 23rd! and therefore 'free' as far as Disney is concerned). I know I'm getting :offtopic: here, but this REALLY bothered me (to the point where I'm tempted to write Disney about it....in addition to telling them about all of the wonderful CM's we encountered last week).

Anyway - we pretty much always tipped extra.

I tipped extra at Capt Jacks, excellent server who went out of her way.
I tipped extra at CRT (paid out of pocket, but gratuity is set) because he was also excellent and did extra things for my son.

Sci Fi, Ohana, and Mama Melrose we got good service but nothing above the ordinary so I left it. The food is not cheap so it produces a good tip at 18%. Chef Mickey and Boma I left it as it is buffet and I still had to work to get my food :teeth:

I would be so pissed off. My son will not be 3 until November 21st and I better not come upon this...

Almost always tip 20% so try to at least see that. DDP automatically does 18%. Two trips ago I thought some of the service had 'dummed down' and sometimes didnt think some deserved 18%, but last trip in August I thought the opposite. Had great service at Spoodles and Turf Club over at Saratoga Springs.

Still dont quite see 18% though for buffets--who is doing most of the work?

Hate to say it mom2my3kids, but I'd be surprised if you didn't get this at all. We did not have one CM question her age at the parks, but when it came to dining....different story. Some of the CMs in the restaurants acted like we were taking money out of their pockets! It really upset me at Kona when we got MAJOR attitude. I didn't say anything at the time - wasn't worth causing a stink over right then. But I'd like to write a letter now - NOT to try and get anything, but to let 'the powers that be' know about what we experienced. Like I said though, I would also let them know about the really great CMs we came across last week too.....the stinky ones were the exception rather than the rule, for sure.

at almost every restaurant. Our dinner tabs usually came to $200.00 and we left an add'l $10.00 (5%). I know this made the total tip 23% but we got the plan free and it really felt funny not to leave anything. We spent about $100 on extra tips on our trip. The only restaurant we did not leave anything extra was lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern. Lunch was fabulous but the waitress was clearly not interested in any kind of interaction with the customers. I actually got this impression from all of the waitstaff there. Most of them spent their time talking to each other rather than the people they were serving. I also asked to take half my yummy sandwich with me and she handed me a small waxed paper lunch bag. You know, the kind you put the kids' BP &J sandwich in. I had to stop at the nearest gift shop and beg a bag I could carry. But every other waiter(ress) was great. WCC's Deputy Doug was OUTSTANDING!!! Had my reticent hubby in stitches. And the bartender at the Poly lounge got an EXTRA big tip for his efforts! I tipped him when I paid for our drinks. Hubby didn't notice and tipped again when we left! He tried to give it back but we really liked him so we made him keep it!! Free food let us tip like BIG SPENDERS!!!

Thank you all! I'll pack some extra money for the CM's who go above and beyond. Thanks again! :)

We tipped extra if we shared a meal. We just brought the tip up to where it was supposed to be for 2 to dine a full meal. We also tipped extra for superior service.
