Extra Room Key?

So, our situation is that we have 2 Room only ressies at POP for August. One for Nic and I, plus our infant DS, and then one for my grandparents, who will be watching him every afternoon.

We wanted to attach our park tickets we got off of UT to our keys.

Now, can we get an extra key with just the ability to access the room, so my grandparents can? We're hoping to just set everything up in our room and have them watch him in there in the afternoons, but we want our tickets on our keys, so we can't just leave a key of our own with them.

yes just ask the front desk and they can do that for you ...

Have you requested connecting rooms? There might not even be a need to get an extra room key at all. The connecting rooms aren't guaranteed but there's a good chance you would get them.

We could try that, but we don't want connecting rooms. We want our privacy, if you know what I mean. :thumbsup2

I don't think they'll give you an additional room key - that would mean (not that YOU'RE doing this) that an additional actual-or-theoretical Guest would have access to all features and perqs of staying onsite, without paying for anything.

I once went on a trip with 3 friends, we had 2 rooms. They were next to each other but not connecting. They setup our keys to work with either room.

We have been able to get an extra key for a couple of different reasons on occasion.

I know what you mean. My mother-in-law insists on connecting rooms whenever we travel with them (they pay so I can't complain). Our rule is that if we want their company, we unlock our connecting door. Otherwise, leave us alone. Usually, it's unlocked after we are ready to go for the day and then gets locked again when we "retire" to our room at night.

Yes they will give you an extra room key. It will only be able to open the door though. There is no name on it or anything just a room key. I have done it several times for room decorating.

I don't see a privacy issue at all. . .I was at POP with DIS friends in May and we had connecting rooms. . .when I wanted privacy I just closed the connecting door. . .when I needed to have both places it was open. . .the connecting door was WONDERFUL. . .and so convenient. . .

Can a key now be made out in the name of your infant? I thought even infants had room keys for EMH purposes.

Claire ;)

That's not how my grandparents are, though. If we're next to each other, and there's a door, and I ever shut it, they'd get REALLY upset. Plus, I'd just rather not be right next to them. I'd never hear the end of why the door should be shut.

I'll try just asking them at the desk. Sounds like that's worked for people. Thanks everyone! :thumbsup2

Just adding that we did this in September, no problem.

They will give you an extra key. I did this for Guests many times. All it is is adding an extra child to the room, or using the infant's name, and the system will make an extra key (either with the name, blank, or "extra", or whatever on it). Since you won't have connecting rooms I would ask the CM when you check in to please make a note on the reservation about the extra key just in case they need to replace it when you are out, then any CM who looks at the res will know what's up.
