Hello all,
We're planning on going to MK for extra morning magic (7:45-9) on the final day of our trip, which means we have to check out of Art of Animation that morning. The question is, do we take the bus to the park and then have to take it back to AoA to get to our car and leave, or do we park at the TTC? Does anyone have any advice on this? If parking at the TTC, what time should we aim to get there, and which transportation modes would be running at that time (monorail, ferry, bus?)? How long does it typically take to get from the TTC to MK?
Thanks!

Use either, as you choose.

Arrive at TTC about 7:00.
-or-
Be at the resort bus stop about 7:00.

Answering the questions I can and posing one for you.

As far as how long it take to travel TTC to MK:

monorail- since you'll be on the express I'd guesstimate the time to be about 10 minutes
ferry- makes stops at Poly, GF, and possibly Contemporary, before reaching MK...I'd put 30 mins down for travel time.
bus- sorry don't know but imagine the time is similar to the ferry.

My question to you is have you explored the new parking policy to be sure you wont have to pay parking at TTC? I don't drive so am clueless on the ins and outs of it.

Disney states that it's transportation generally opens 45 minutes before park's opening hour.

Just FYI, the Ferry from the TTC only goes from the TTC to the MK. Back and forth, all day long.

Smaller “Resort Launches” service the resorts in various routes depending on the resort, but non stop at the TTC.

Thanks for the clarification!

If you are taking your car to the TTC, are you leaving all of your belongings in the car while you are in the park? If you have anything of value, I am not certain that is the best approach.

Other thank Tomh's point on valuables, I'd take my car to the TTC on that day. Less headache going back and forth on the bus. Hopefully you have a big trunk or some type of cover if an SUV or Truck. Have a great trip!

And, going further, there is no direct boat transportation between MK and the Contemporary.

Thanks for the responses, everyone!

As far as I can tell, the parking fee is only for the overnight resort parking, so the parks/TTC should still be free.

I agree about saving the headache of having to take the bus back, which is why I'm considering this. Since we're going to be at the park after our checkout, we will have all of our luggage and everything packed into the car. Are there issues of people breaking into cars in the TTC parking lot? And if so, is that worse than in the Art of Animation lot? We will have to have it parked somewhere.

Yes. That can be found on some Disney site info.
(You can also find info about "1 hour before park opening" on some of Disney's sites.)

Bus timing is one of the most notoriously incorrect bits of "Disney Myth" that simply will not die.

The fact is, the resort to park buses begin running at about 6:30AM (some earlier, some a bit later) every day of the year.

Hi - I don't know if theft in the parking lots is common, but we go in summer so can't leave our luggage in the car while at a park (don't want to leave iPads etc in closed car in 100 degree heat). What we do is take our luggage to Bell Services ("luggage assistance" IIRC at values) at our resort, and then retrieve it after done at the park. (If flying we'd do the airline luggage check in at our resort, and give the carry ons to Bell Services.) For the cost of a tip I don't worry about the car being broken into or the high temps damaging our electronics. They can lock up valuables - at all levels of resorts they have asked me if anything is valuable and, if so, they can put it in a secure area. HTH.

Does anyone have experience with transportation from AKL (Jambo House) to Early Morning Magic? I have read that sometimes AKL’s bus situation can be a bit spotty...

When I did EMM last year, the Express Monorail wasn't running when I got there. They had us use the Resort Monorail, which stopped at the Poly and GF on the way to MK. It added a little extra time, but not a lot.

Unless there is some rare and unforeseen "issue," expect the bus service at AKL (and, really, all the resorts) to be running just fine.

When we did EMM we drove to TTC arriving about 7:15 and got the express monorail and were at the gate at 7:30.

On our departure day (not our EMM day), I loaded all our luggage in the trunk, so nothing visible to a passer by and parked it at TTC. I carried our passports and my wallet with me that day just as a precaution because I figure if a suitcase gets taken, that stuff can be replaced, but I really don't want to be in a foreign country with a flight home that day and a missing passport.

I haven't seen or heard of any issues. I think it is a matter of common sense/don't display valuables/cover as appropriate like any public parking lot, MK or AoA alike.

I've never had any issues aside from someone moving my Passholder Magnet from the back to the passenger side of my car. I thought someone had stolen it at first. Lock your doors and as PP said, don't leave valuables in plain sight.

I would take the bus and leave my luggage with Bell Services. That way you don’t have to worry about someone breaking into your car.

i'd just catch the 7am bus to the park. Otherwise that early you will be on the ferry if drive to the TTC. The last 2 times on trips the Monorail from the TTC wasn't running that early.

The resort monorail was running that early though but it takes extra time.
