Extra Magic Hours

Can someone explain how the Extra Magic Hours work? We'll be staying at PC and will only have Base tickets. Where do we do if we're already in the park for the evening hours? Do we need to show our resort key to CMs if they ask? Do we need to register anywhere? When do we need to leave it we want to get in early in the morning? Do we have to take the bus or can we drive?

I think the only extra magic hours we're going to fit into our visit are possibly the MK in the morning and DAK in the evening. Thanks!
