Extra Magic Hours

I was just reading on the WDW calendar page about extra magic hours. It is defined as "each day, 1 park opens 1 hour earlier or stays open up to 3 hours later for guests staying at WD resorts". I assume that includes FW guests?

The calendar shows the EMH for each day for the parks but does not seem to specify what the hours are. For example, one day may show EPCOT hours being 11a to 9p and the next day also shows 11a to 9p with "extra magic hours". But, it doesn't say what those extra hours are or whether it's the extra morning hour and/or extra evening hours. Anybody know where to find that detail?

I think I know what you are asking.

All of the parks normally open at 9am. So if a park has morning EMH, then it opens at 8am.

The parks have varying closing hours. If a park has evening EMH, then just add 3 hours to their regular closing time.

For example, Epcot's regular closing time is at 9pm, so evening EMH goes till midnite.

Animal Kingdom normally closes at 6pm, so their evening EMH goes till 9pm.

The Studios and Magic Kingdom are all over the board. Their closing time can vary from 8pm til midnite, so just add 3 hours to whatever their regular closing time is that nite. I've gone to an EMH at Magic Kingdom from midnite to 3am. That was WONDERFUL. Cool evening, VERY low crowds and almost NO little kids, so we could enjoy Fantasyland with out tripping over a stroller every 2 feet.

I have nothing against little ones at Disney. I just don't have any little ones, (my baby is 6'4" tall) so appreciate time in the park without lots of strollers.

Not sure what calendar you are looking at. For this one it shows the hours the parks are open and if you click on the "extra magic hours" tab at the right it will show you which parks have which EMH and if they are morning or evening. Hope this helps...

This is the calendar I was talking about and now I do see the section that tells when each park has morning EMH and when they have evening EMH. I assume that morning EMH always means an hour earlier than the posted time. However, evening EMH says "up to 3 hours". So, how do I know when it's 3 hours vs. 2 vs. only 1 extra hour? No biggie but it would be nice for planning.

since I never payed attention before I can only go on our last trip and all the evening hours were three hours and I have never heard of one hour extra magic at night.you can plan close like this and then you will get a times and information guide when you check in that will show exactly what they are.Remember when you check in that the schedule is for a week so if you check in on Saturday, you may need to pick up a new one on sunday. We normally only semi plan. we ma plan on night EMH at epcot but, we end up being able to go and do what we wanted before they start and go to plan B. Plan B is what we come up with during our afternoon breaks at the camper.

I have never seen the evening EMH less than 3 hours.

I remember last Thanksgiving Weekend on Sunday night DD and I were laying down about 10:00 and looking at the EMH flyer. It said the MK was open til 2:00 a.m. so we jump up go catch the boat to MK and run to Space Mountain. The guy looks at us and says we can take you but this is the last ride. Come to find out we were looking at the previous weeks times. MK was actually closing at midnight. When we arrived, there were no lines to anything. I was like woohoo we hit the jackpot, everybody went home. DUHHHHHHH. The worst thing about the mistake I made was the boat back to FW was backed up under the monorail track by the gates. I was so mad at that point I could have chewed nails and spit them at Mickey lol. From now on I know better.

Just remember that not all of the attractionis will stay open for the EMH in the evening and for the morning EMH not all the attractions are open.

All of this information is readily available to resort guests upon check-in.
