Hi,

My mom is in a wheelchair and she and I and my youngest child will be staying in a handicapped equipped villa. It's just so much easier than a hotel room.

My husband and nine kids (our children and some of their friends) will be staying at Fort Wilderness.

If we all go to a park and want to stay for the evening extra magic hour are they going to make me, my mom and my 3 yr old leave or can they make exceptions??

Thank you for any help,
Victoria

When we were there last, they checked everyone in our party for a resort id. I'm pretty sure anyone without a valid resort id will not be issued a wrist band, and therefore will not have access to the rides. They won't make exceptions. However, not being able to ride and having to leave the park are two different things. Perhaps someone else has more knowledge about this.

Unfortunately, I doubt they would take your special situation into consideration. :guilty:

Hi -

Just back -

CM's check everyone's Key to the World Card for EMH, so it would seem that you, mom and 3 y/o would not be given a wristband to be in the parks before or after hours.
On the plus side, after they check even the kids' cards, the wristband procedure and availability of CM's to check was streamlined and efficient.

You would not have to leave, you would not be able to experience any attractions without a wristband.

Wow! Hubby is kind of brave staying with 9 kids at Fort Wilderness. How? Are you sure that's a good idea?

In the short answer no you wouldn't be forced out but you wouldn't be able to ride the rides.

My question is if they are staying at FT. WIlderness is it in a trailer that your driving down or in one of the cabins? If so the cabins only hold 6 but they do offer handicap accessible cabins. Could you look into one of those for your trip maybe that way you all could stay on property and all take part in the emh?

Last time I was at WDW, there was a family trying to enter MK after closing , but during EMH that was staying off-site. The CM at the gate (a type of CM I call a "suit", because of his attire) told them they could enter, but not ride. So it seems Disney's official policy is to welcome you to enter/stay during EMH, but you won't be able to ride, I'm afraid. I was kinda surprised, thinking that off-site guests weren't supposed to enter the park, but apparently that's not the case.

If the EMH are very important to the 3 of you staying offsite, could you rent an adjacent campsite and register the 3 of you as the guests for that site? I think each campsite will allow up to 10 registered guests. It wouldn't be a bid deal since your husband has to check in and register anyway.

Why? I'm sure the OP, her mother and daughter will spend a significant amount of time at the campground with the others and would be able to utilize the space. Paying for the site gives them legitimate, legal access to the amenities of the campground. You wouldn't want these "offsiters" to pool hop, now would you?

With 9 children, depending on the ages, maybe some of the older kids would even want to pitch a tent on the site!

Let me start with this disclaimer - I'm not suggesting that anyone break any rules.

With that said, when I was there in April (Easter week insanity) I was staying at WLV with my three best friends. I am scatterbrained and didn't bring my room key with me figuring that one of them had the room key. When we tried to get our EMH bracelets at the MK we had 3 cards instead of four. The CM still gave me the bracelet as he said he understood that everyone may not carry their room key with them. So I think they do have some wiggle room on the bracelets.

Do what you wish with that information. But mostly have an unbelievable trip!!!!

Sorry, I took it to mean they should register for a camp site that they would not use. While that is not against the rules, it does raise the ire of many Dis-campers who know how hard it is to get a camp site. If they would plan on staying at the camp site that would be one thing. But to register for a site just for the perks with no intention to stay there is not nice.

I agree with maxiesmom. We usually stay at the campgrouds and sometimes it takes a lot to get a site for when you want. Not nice to get site and not use it. I would think that the workers at the campgrounds would wonder why no one was on it and ask.

If it was adjacent to the site the others would be on, I am sure they could justify using it as well. Face it, 10 people is a lot for one site. They could set up a tent or screen room on the site for the older kids to use when the smaller ones were getting ready for bed, or already tucked in. "Using" it doesn't necessarily mean sleeping in it, does it?

Honestly, it sounds like you are suggesting breaking the rules. Otherwise, I'm not sure of the purpose of relating this story.

I was just trying to give someone a little hope for some extra magic on their trip. It doesn't hurt for her to ask and then the CM's can make the decision themselves. It didn't seem to me that Victoria was a blatant rule breaker, so i don't think it hurts to relay some nice stories.

This I agree with but that's not what came across in your first post. Your first post came across as implying that you could say you forgot your room key to try and get in.

I apologize, as it was not my intent. I wish postings would be able to convey emotion better. I have poor delivery with them. It's one of my weak points.

I hope the second one didn't come across that way. It wasn't meant to, if it did.

There are lots of handicapped accessible rooms and villas on the WDW property and they provide transportation to the parks. If you want to partake of the onsite perks, you need to be staying onsite. If you stay offsite, you are not eligible for the onsite perks. Sorry.

No they won't. People do this quite often. (However, no one who does it should post on the DIS. On the DIS paying for something you don't use is "stealing" :rotfl: A logic I fail to understand.) This method for getting EMH access has been written up as an option in at least one Disney guidebook.
