Extra Magic Hours Question

Let me use Disney MGM Studios for my question, and example:

If I get the required wristband to ride the rides during the evening Extra Magic Hours for WDW Resort guests earlier in the day, can I leave the park, (yes let's assume I have the park hopper option on my tickets) and go to MK, and here's the question, return after Disney MGM Closes to other guests and still be admitted? Or must I be inside Disney MGM Studios at park closing to take advantage of The Extra Magic Hours?

I want to be able to attend a lesser crowded park and return only for the Evening Extra Magic Hours. My question is ... must I BE INSIDE the EMH park at closing to use the EMH, or will I still be admitted since I have the necessary wristband?

We attended evening EMH at Magic Kingdom. I think they started issuing wristband 2 hours prior to park closing, so you probably don't have the time to visit another park after getting your wristband.

I was hoping to stay at a different park and then get to the Magic Kingdom either right before extra evening hours or after they already started.....so you are saying that this is not possible? You cant get in for extra hours unless you are already there when they start?

Thank you.

When we went in January we had to show our room key to get the wrist band and they allowed you to receive the wrist band but was only with in a few hours before the EMH began

What I want to know is, do you have to already be inside the park when it closes, to use your wristband? Or, let's say the park closes at 9 PM and will open for Extra Magic hours til 12 PM, can I get to the park at say 10 PM if I already have a wristband? .... And I thought you had to have the wristband at least 2 hours before park closing, not get it with 2 hours of park closing. Help I don't understand!!!!

Not sure if this helps you or not, but we just got back yesterday from WDW.
Sunday was our Extra Magic Hours. According to WD employees MK Extra Magic Hours are always on Sunday. We were in MK on Sunday but left the park about 4 p.m. to go to the Hoop De Do Review dinner show. We did not get back to MK until 8 p.m. that night. Just as the park was getting ready to close, but we had no problem getting the wrist band at that time. The only problem we seen with this was while we were trying to get back in MK lots of people were trying to get out at the same time.

Thanks everybody who is trying to help me find the answer to this question, I really apprecaite it!
But, I still don't know, if Extra Magic Hours begin at 9 PM (let's say), will I be admitted to the Park if I show up at 10 PM, with the wristband I received earlier in the day?

Yes, you can get in after Extra Magic Hours begins.
We did this at Epcot.
We got our wristband then, but did not really need it because I don't think we rode anything. We just went & watched Illuminations.

***And BTW, you cannot get your wristband early in the day.
If the park closes to the regular public at, say 8 p.m. - they will begin distributing wristband 2 hours earlier...so that would be 6 p.m.

We just got back from an 8 day trip last week.

Can you get your bracelet AFTER magic hours begin or do you HAVE to get in (be at that park) earlier in the day?

Mom, we rode Spaceship Earth!!!! Don't you remember?! :teeth: :goodvibes :rotfl:

Wristband distribution starts about two hours prior the the start of the evening EMH. If you go to allearsnet.com they have a listing of the various distribution points in each park. Note the one closest to the main entrance will always be the most crowded.
You DO NOT have to be in the park before the evening EMH starts. As long as you are a Disney resort guest you can arrive anytime during the EMH and be admitted and given a wristband. If you want to leave and go to another park and return later, that is also fine as long as you have park hopping.....although I am not sure what other park might still be open unless the EMH is starting unusually early that night.

When we went in July, we got to MGM after closing for the EMH. Unfortunately, it was so crowded, the only thing we got to do is Fantasmic. The waits for RnR and ToT were over an hour with no FP. Hope you have better luck!

THANK YOU SO MUCH wdwgoofeeee!!!!!!!! And thank you to everyone else who replied to my query! I love DIS!
