We are planning on going to the Magic Kingdom on a day with Extra Magic Hours (evening). Will it be a lot more crowded than it would on a normal day? Are the crowds unbearable? Any opinions or info would be great! :cool1:

Depends on which time of year you are going. We just got back from Disney 3 days ago, and I found the morning extra magic hours not quite as crowded at the evening ones. I think some people with little kids can't get their kids up early so they go for evening EMH instead. There was one morning that the rest of my family couldn't get out of bed for AM EMH, so I went by myself! It was EMH for the MK, and it was so much fun hearing the MK open from in front of the train station! I was like the 3rd or 4th person on Space Mountain, and rode 3 other rides in the first hour! IMHO, I would suggest the AM hours over the PM, but like I said it depends what time of year you are going.

Last July the evening extra hours at Mk were brutal - long lines for everything.

Has anyone been to the evening EMH at MGM lately? How were the crowds?
- going again this July

Echoing Pavel's remark. We were there last July and MK never seemed to clear out or cool off. It felt like it was still close to 100 at 11PM. We actually only rode the Astro Orbiter during EMH, still waited ~30 minutes for it with no air stirring. The crowds were so bad that they were allowing people to exit via the back alleys behind Main Street which was kind of neat. We did evening EMH at MGM in November and it was nuts too. The lines for the wristbands took around 20 minutes. Crowds were high we rode RNRC and TOT, aain, didn't even stay that late due to crowds. I think people are starting to wait till the EMH evenings to go to that park, driving the crowd levels up.

Just got back yesterday. The EMH at night was horrible! I'd rather go during the day and get Fast Passes. Of course maybe if you are there between 1 and 2am (at MK) it might be different but we simply were too exhausted to stay up that late.

I wish they'd bring E-night back!! Now that was a blast and well worth the $$ you paid!! :)

Is it the actual day time or is it just the extra magic hours part of the day

Just got back on the 11th and did MK EMG and Epcot EMH - I would have to say that after about 2ish, the parks got pretty crowded and stayed that way right through EMH hours that evening. I would recommend getting to the MK early in the day, and getting some fastpasses and doing a lot of the mtns early. :thumbsup2

Pavel I was at MGM evening EMH just over a month ago, about 1/2 way thru the extra 3 hours the crowds [which had not been very heavy to begin with] became so thin it almost felt like we had the place to ourselves.
We went by the "Hat" several times and with about 1 hour left on EMH there were no more then 20 other people in sight at this major hub.

Has anybody been to the evening EMH's in the off-season? Are they really crowded then, too, or not as bad?

I'll be there in late October and I was thinking about spending all day at both MK and MGM on their evening EMH days. Since the hours are so short at that time, I'd really like to be able to get in the extra three hours. But if it's going to be crazy and the crowds will be too heavy to make the extra time spent worthwhile, then I'd rather pick non-EMH parks each day and have a more relaxed evening after the parks close.

The time we stayed for EMH at the Magic Kingdom, it was crowded from about 11am on. When we walked over to ride Space Mt. after getting our wrist bands, the line was out into the plaza area. We didn't wait around.

EMH (evening) in the MK is not too different from the normal crowds, however, we found that some of the major rides such as Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain were a lot less crowded. We seemed to see a lot of people walking around, but not very long lines.

I think the best time to go is not the EMH, but at around 9:00 PM. That's between Wishes, and Spectromagic, so the lines are VERY small. We went last July, and at around 9:00 PM we were able to ride Thunder Mountain 4 times in a row (could've gone more, but I was feeling a little quesy), Splash Mountain had little to no line, and when we went into Adventureland, NOBODY was there. we saw a cat lingering around, but that was pretty much it (besides the CMs). So we walked right onto Aladdin's Magic Carpets and watched Wishes from there.

Go for it!

Unless you are going on Columbus Day week (when school's are out), You should be fine! EMH works great!

Have a Magical Trip!

We just got back on 6/17. The extra evening hours were alot more crowded than the morning. The early evening was packed. The resort guest was arriving for the extra hours and the nonresort people hadn't left yet. If you go to the extra evening hours. Don't get there to early. For us the Epot evening hours was the best.

We will be in WDW September 3-7th before our DCL trip. Does anyone have any idea what the crowds will be like then? We are planning to be at MK on the 3rd and Animal Kingdom on the 6th for EMH.

We went to the evening extra magic hours at MK last July and loved it! The first hour was really crowded but after that the park really cleared out. At one point we were in Fantasyland and couldn't see ANY other people except CM's. Everyone was in a great mood and let us ride the rides a bunch of times without getting off.

It was still hot, but at least the sun wasn't beating on us. we are planning to stay for a couple of EMH's when we go again this July!

We found them to be crazy crowded. Lines were very long and just not worth it in the summer. We leave in a few weeks and I will be avoiding the PM EMH parks.

We have always done the morning EMH for MK and it has been wonderful. Being teachers we have go during Easter, July and Christmas time. Yes the parks get packed later in the day, but if somehow you can get your little ones up early, do it and head to the parks. That way you can see a ton before noon.

Does anyone know about EMH eveing crowds in middle August? I am worried with the free dining plan that the crowds will be horrible. Have a sister in wheelchair and trying to avoid her driving thru too big of crowds.

I haven't done an evening EMH at Animal Kingdom? Anyone know how they have gone lately?

Last July we did EMH evening in the MK. At around midnight, the lines were pretty thin. You just have to be able to stick it out that late.
