Extra Magic Hours at MK or early character breakfast?

DH and I are surprising our kids (ages 8 and 3) with a short, 2 day trip to Disney while we are in FL for spring break in April. We are staying 1 night in a Disney resort and only planning on doing MK. We are going to roll into MK super early and were planning on kicking off the day with a character breakfast....so I made a breakfast reservation before 8AM at 'Ohana....BUT I just noticed that MK has morning Extra Magic hours that day.

Are we better off doing a later breakfast and going to the park early, or enjoying an early character breakfast? :confused3 My kids aren't big into "rides", and my 8 year old gets pretty cranky without breakfast....however, if the Extra Magic hours are that awesome (for instance...I KNOW my 3 year old is going to want to do the Buzz Lightyear ride) then I could probably stave them off with a granola bar and then do a 10:30am breakfast....

Any advice is appreciated!

I'd do the EMH. Fantasyland is open and you can get most of that done in an hour or so. Head straight to Peter Pan's Flight. Do the rides that take longer to load and unload after PPF.

I'd do the latest breakfast at 'Ohana if that's the character meal you want. I would consider doing Crystal Palace as you won't waste much time leaving the park and then coming back in.
