extra magic hour

I'll be going to Walt Disney World in one week. I've been there several times but never in July. I'm wondering if it is worth going in for the extra magic hour or does it get so crowded that I'm better off going to another park at the regular opening time. Thanks for any suggestions.

If you are talking about e-ticket night it is worth it...kind of. We always wake up and do early entrance, we find we are able to see and do so many things before others even get to the parks. The e- night was a neat experience but you have to pay extra. We counted the number of times we rode buzz and space etc and it was no greater than when we get up early and move our butts into the park and ride these and then head over to splash and thunder exactly when they open and ride and fast pass. It does extend your day however if it's crowded and tough to get on some of those more popular rides. I definately think it's woth trying once. Personally I figure it's another way for them to make more money.. It would be neat if they did it for all of the parks, or if like early entrance mornings, they had late stay evenings for resort guests. Hey a person can dream right?!

DisKim Welcome to the DIS. I'm very glad you found us and I hope that you can visit often.

I think that in July, I would take advantage of EMH then hop to a non EMH park after the general public is allowed to enter. You will benefit from the cooler temps at the EMH park and the non EMH parks seem to be less crowded.

Camping Griswalds the Early Magic Hour (EMH) is a perk for people staying onsite. All of the parks except Animal Kingdom open early for Disney resort guests on different days of the week. It's nice, the crowds are very low during the EMH, usually. EMH used to be called early entry :)

I was under the impression that AK did have EMH. Is that wrong? I have seen from a few reliable websites that they do it mondays and another day during the week?

jordanyosh, do you remember how some posters on another forum got so upset over this topic about a week ago?

For the facts, I would direct everyone here: http://wdwig.com/emhour.htm

Sunday - Magic Kingdom
Monday - Disney's Animal Kingdom
Tuesday - Disney-MGM Studios
Wednesday - Epcot®
Thursday - Magic Kingdom
Friday - Disney's Animal Kingdom
Saturday - Disney-MGM Studios

If you do not buy "hopper" passes, you may want to avoid the parks on the EMH days. Just my opinion.

If you are able to hop around, I'd agree with nativetxn. There is surely no downside to early entry, followed by an early exit! :) That is, as long as the attractions that are open early are what you are looking for. :D

Thanks! Your opinions made me feel better. I was afraid entering the parks early would be a mistake during a crowded month like July.
