Extra Magic Evening Hours in January

I really try to plan my PS's on EMH and which park we will be in; but now I'm not sure due to this news; I wish they would announce it sooner, what's the big deal to let us in on this(?); I hope it will be in effect in early Feb when we go; talk about super commando; this would really work into my have fun until you drop style :hyper:

As to the EMH nights, I'm thrilled. I'm also a commando-type, but as someone who almost never can make it awake early enough for the EMH's in the morning I'm thrilled to get not one, but three extra hours. I was planning my January trip and was a bit sad that there were no MNSSHP's or MVMCP's to do at night - it gets boring going to Epcot to end the day every night, since it's open the latest with the 7/7:30 closings of MK/MGM. And I can't imagine EMH's for three extra hours later at AK - AK after dark sounds like fun (even if the animals aren't out in full force).

I find the best way to plan is to plan the heck out of it and then go with the flow when I get there, but I totally understand people being upset about PS's and the like. They are giving a month and a half notice, though it would be very nice to find out which parks it's going to be on which days. It starts on the 9th with MGM, but since MGM wasn't the Sunday park during the test it's obvious they've changed the order, so hopefully that information will come out sooner than later.

How about soft openings of this, for those of us going the first week of January? Any hope of this happening?

If I remember right, SOG was not part of the May test. I could be wrong, but a search of the boards could turn up the answer.

T&B

During the May trial SOG was still able to do the morning early entry but not the extra evening hours. There were several post back in May about the trial run. I sure hope it is in effect for the first week of Feb. That sure helps out on the shorter park hours.

As a West Coast WDW fan, EMHs weren't even on my radar. Getting to the parks for an 8am opening was like getting to the park at 5am. Not to mention it would mean getting up at 3:30-4am West Coast time to get ready.....

I too like more notice as I am finalizing plans for our Jan/Feb trip as we speak. But hey....am I going to complain if Disney decides to let resort guests play in the theme parks a little longer? Heck no.

When do you think it will be posted officially? Or who can I call to find out more?

Thanks Dave

I don't know when an official announcement will come out.

You can try calling 407-WDW-INFO or 407-WDISNEY, but I seriously doubt that anyone at either of those lines will have any clue about it.

You are right, I tried that yesterday and they did not know what I was talking about. I emailed Disney yesterday from ther website yesterday and hopefully will hear back from them soon. If I do get any usefull info I will be sure to pass it along.

Happy Thanksgiving to all

Hi there

I emailed my concierge planner, hopefully she might have some info that she is willing to share. If I get any details I will post them.

I have all of our PS made and plans for the trip set, this will change everything pretty dramatically for our group if it is true.

:wave2:

I do not know when this will be announced, but I met one of the "senior" CM's at the Studios on Saturday and he confirmed the DS portion of this. The Studios will be losing one of their EE days though.

We arrive 1/11~yay! If Disney does this, we'll be able to participate! I really hope this is going to happen. We don't go to EE because it's so busy. After hours sounds fun to me!

How neat. We were there last May during the test run of this, but we were staying at SOG and they did not participate in the evening program.

We'll be at the GF in Jan. so I'm hoping this works out for us to try this time.

Did he confirm the start date? I'm really hoping it starts the week earlier.

I think that overall evening EMH's are probably a good thing. However, I find it extremely irritating to have no advance notice. It's bad enough to make PS at 90 days and not get park hours until less than 60 days out. But to then have the EMH's changed around on top of it...grrrr...

Everyone is talking about extra hour nights, I don't think it is free, you have to pay like an extra $12 for those 3 hours.

No, these ones are free. They're not ERide nights with limited tickets sold. They're actual EMH's for onsite resort guests, but in the evening rather than the mornings. When they tested them last May each of the four parks had one evening and one morning EMH. The mornings were still one hour long, the evenings three hours if I remember correctly.

This is wonderful news! Of course we're only there 5 nights and two are taken up with HDD & Cirque. But, if the MK night is on Thursday night, we could hit that....

No Simbas Mom he only knew that it would be in January, but he did not know an exact date. I shot him an email to find out more, if he gets back with me I will post.
