Just curious, how do they plan on clearing "non-resort guests" from the parks when this begins?

From Deb's site:

WDW will be testing out new variations to the Extra Magic Hour Program in May by having both morning and evening hours for resort guests.

From May 9 -22 a test period will be held to allow resort guests to have the opportunity to not only visit the theme parks one hour early, but also as many as 3 hours in the evening after the park's stated closing time. Extra Magic Hours will be offered 8 times during the course of a week.

I was wondering the same thing. I will be there duing the test period and would like to take advantage of it. We are staying at POP for a few days before we leave for a Disney cruise. :)

The word is that they'll set up stations where you can get wristbands. I'm assuming you will have to show your resort id to get one.

My guess is that this will be similar to how they clear out the park for MVMCP in December. When we were there you could go to different locations in the MK & get a wristband with your ticket (I'm assuming you'll need your roomkey to do this for the new EMH) for a couple hours before closing time.

After the evening fireworks people generally started to file out before the MVMCP (I think this was around 7 pm or so.) After the fireworks are complete CM's at all the rides will be checking for wristbands. Without the wristband you couldn't get onto any rides after 7 pm. Some guests were able to stick around in the shops on Main Street & throughout the park for sometime, but noone was allowed access to the rides.

Just my guess on how this will work - maybe someone else will know more. :)

arizonacolbys - I believe you are exactly right, this is how they do the E-ride nights as well. Except for E-ride, you have to go to an area near the front gates, there weren't areas scattered around the parks like MVMCP. It was that little outdoor area next to City Hall, cm's were asking for tickets, and issuing armbands.

The cm's will not let anyone on the rides without an armband, they all ask to see it, from the cm at the beginning of the ride, to the ones actually running the rides!:wave2:

So sounds like an E-nite except you don't have to get a ticket ahead of time and you don't have to shell out the extra 12 bucks. Works for me! ~:p~

I read this and a song started running through my head: Eight Days A Week!

:D

I e-mailed the GF concierge about the new EMH test program since we'll be there for part of it and they confirmed the schedule and said that it will most likely be a wristband system like they do for the special parties. Even though I always liked the morning EMH and would definitely be awake for it on the next 2 trips since my daughter will be 3 months old then, I think the evening EMH is a great idea since it will keep out the offsite guests who were often allowed to sneak in during the mornings if CMs decided not to ask for room keys that day. They might be more crowded than the morning EMHs since people will already be in the park so staying longer will be very appealing to many people, but since it's 3 hours instead of 1 I'm guessing the crowds will thin by the end of the night.

Yahoo...we will be there for the test!! So what time will the parks close for the public? What time is this "Special Nite" begins?

It is going to be interesting to see how this runs. I'm glad to be there during the test phase. Interesting to see how the crowds are but I wonder if it will attract much crowds with such short notice.

I believe it begins at the park's regular scheduled closing time. Don't think they have determined yet how many extra evening hours (1 to 3) each park will have. They are suppose to post a schedule on the Disney site when it becomes available. ~:D~

Apparentyl we'll be able to get the wristbands a few hours before the park closes and can possibly stay up to 3 hours post closing. This is so awesome~I really timed this vacation perfectly because my entire stay is covered by their test period! :Pinkbounc :bounce:
